Coilover Options
Hey guys so I can't really find what I'm looking for. Pretty much I am considering getting coilovers but can't decide what I want and can't find post for which coilovers are good or bad.
I'm looking for something that's going to be used for daily driving and might track it once in a while. Looking for something that I can get a nice drop with but also something that isn't going to break my back because of how stiff it is. If I can get some input on this and people can suggest and tell me what is good and what isn't so I can consider what I really want to get. Thanks in advance! :) |
how much money are you looking to spend? how much of a "nice drop" are we talking about?
I'd say ST, KW V1 and RCE T0 RSR Sport-i are good places to start, if you're looking for more adjustment check out KW V3, RCE T2 |
Well I don't want to spend more then $2000 for coilovers. Nice drop meaning not slammed but not stock ride height wheel gap. Something where the gap will be flush.

Under 2k will get you plenty of different coilover options, kw's, ST and RSR all have great systems to go with!

KW V1 is a nice option for those who don't want to deal with ajustability, they are valved very specifically to the 86 platform. Slightly more, I've found between 1400-1500. ST will be the cheapest option of this list, but they are made by KW for ST specs, the only difference between the KW V1 and ST coils, is the stainless steel durability finish. RCE T0 is a great all rounder and heavy hitter. The spring rates start at 400/400 lb/in, and are the most expensive of the group, usually between 2-2200. |

I need to get arms and other things to get coilovers done? I mean Iv'e been through this before I used to a BMW I modded with coilovers and stuff. But I'm new with the FR-S since I've only had mine for 3 days now |
You don't need anything extra to run coilovers on our twins.
If you lower the car, the rear cambers out a bit, if you want to stand the rear wheels back up you'll need adjustable LCA's. Mine is lowered 1.5-2'' and has about -2.3 camber in the rear. With camber bolts in front, you can get to -2 degrees, but if you want more you'll need camber plates. |
