Openflashtablet or Unichip?
 

I have been reading around and both have good and bad things about them I was wondering if you guys could give me your opinion on what one I should buy for my car! :thanks::bow:

Oft for sure. Reflash > piggyback.

I looked at both of these options for over 4 months by reading the different experiences people had with each option. I decided to go with the OFT and I could not be happier.

OFT is better. unichip is just a piggyback that sends confused signals to your ecu to make it run the car harder instead of just tuning it to run correctly. i dont think its safe honestly but i have no proof that it is or isnt

ive used both and like OFT more. unichip is easy to install/uninstall and seemed to add a little top end power. OFT feels like it added power everywhere just using the OTS maps. OFT also has a lot more upside(launch control, flat foot shift, able to tune yourself or get e-tune, etc...).

Unichip leaves no trace and is easy to install if you have small hands. If you have large hands like me, the CPS plug is frustrating to reach but it can be done. It supports limited custom tuning through a proprietary app and its OTS maps provide a small boost in power. To my knowledge Unichip does support launch control and flat foot shifting but I'm driving an auto so was never able to try it.

OFT is hard to detect when installed and is reversible, but we aren't sure if there are traces left that could be detected upon deep investigation. It supports full custom tuning through standard apps like RomRaider and its OTS maps provide a large boost in power.

I ran Unichip for about 1 year without any issues. A couple weeks ago I switched to an OFT instead. Its not that I didn't like the Unichip -- I just stopped caring about warranty so much and wanted the extra power.

Been running Unichip for a few months and now too lazy to reinstall it since my last dealership maintenance. I'd be willing to let it go cheap if you want to give that a shot.

I'll try to give an unbiased opinion of both since I've owned a Unichip, sold it, bought an OFT.

You can get a Unichip for 250 used and OFT is ~500 new or 450 used. Gains OFT has an advantage but unfortunately there's a really nasty sound as you full throttle through 4k (supposedly from the VVT angle change or something) in the off the shelf tune. Tuning with OFT is ridiculously easy and gives you the option of e85 (which is really nice if you have it near you). In my honest opinion if you aren't going boost and you aren't going e85, Unichip is probably a better overall value. Development for Unichip seems to have halted though so OFT may or may not get better as Shiv fine tunes everything. That said I loved both the tunes and don't regret selling my Unichip as I take advantage of e85 and am going FI soon.

If those are your only considerations, OFT.

What is your goal and expectation?
