about to purchase

I need help looking into a salvaged car with the vin number jf1znaa16d2713054. The car has been repaired and is said to be fully functional but I'm not too sure and was wondering what I should check and look out for. The car was only damaged on the rear end to my knowledge. Also, I will be bringing the car to a mechanic to get it inspected before purchasing. I'm just hoping you guys would be able to take a look at the car and vin number and tell me if anything seems fishy. Thanks!

Picture of car before repair is here http://i.imgur.com/KOhSe54.jpg

already posted the same thread in the subarubrz forum but no reply, seems kind of dead so I posted here

It would need to be an insane deal for me to consider buying a rebuilt car like this one. But if this is what you want. I would say just let your mechanic know all about the damage and he can look more into it for you. Or take it to a body shop maybe?

You're about to spend $15,000 on a car and you can't pony up $40 for a Carfax?

yes because I will most likely use carfax for this one car. I was going to purchase from a dealer but this one caught my eye.

So then buy a Carfax.

You can run a free Vin Check here, and it comes up clean: https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck

Yes, I already ran it on that. Can someone please get a full report? Thanks.

You should make sure your insurance company will underwrite it. I also believe the warranty is now void.

mrdanyo 04-06-2014 10:42 PM

For something like this, why wouldn't you just buy your own carfax instead of asking for someone to buy one for you?

I'm not, I'm asking if someone with an unlimited account can run a search.

Ran the carfax. It said it was totaled with rear end damage.
