dream track alignment?

If you could do any alignment and adjustment and tire wear wasn't an issue, what would you shoot for for the best performance on track?

I am new to the twins alignment...what I learned so far is that it depends on how much the car is dropped as rear keeps gaining negative camber under compression and front first gains and then loses negative camber at higher compression...softer spring rates and roll will make this front negative-to-positive behavior more pronounced. My drop is very small per Ohlins R&T recommendation, -20mm front and -15mm rear. My tires for track are Toyo Proxes RA-1 in 235/40R17 on 17x8 rims, and Toyo recommends running negative camber greater than -3! Per kind recommendation by @CSG Mike, my static camber for track will be set tomorrow at the alignment shop to -3.4F and -2.7R, which is considered quite aggressive. I believe that you need coilovers with front camber plates and also rear LCAs to get negative camber greater than -2.0. I also have Jackson Racing SC and a bunch of other bits that are track friendly. I signed up for 8 track days so far, first two coming up at the end of this month.

that is what i was aiming for as far as camber goes, trying to see how much caster i can get also.

still debating on buying from lca or not.

FYI, I have SPL Rear Lower Control Arms (LCA) like these: https://www.splparts.com/store/produ...hp?pid320.html

Specs front/rear.

Camber: -4 / -1.5
Toe: 1/16 out / 0
Caster: 7*

I'm running -3/-1.8 with 0 toe all around and stock caster (about 6) right now.

Keep in mind my setup is used for drifting so it will probably be quite different from most of everybody else's.

What would be the max negative camber at the rear wheels without the LCA?

I recently ordered my FA 500 coilovers with 9k/9k swift springs and I think I can drop about 1.25" without hurting the geometry, I wonder if I can get more than -2 at the rear tires..

This is 100% dependent on your setup.

I can give you a range that it'll probably fall into, but I can't give you anything specific without a LOT of data and some feedback from you on how your car drives.

your dream alignment should be dictated by your tires, talk to your tires (pyrometer) and they'll tell you what they want.

everything else is either personal preference (ie, making the car looser) or a compromise based on rules, or a compromise based on components and $$upgrades.

^^this

i also would like to know what would be the highest attainable camber in the rear with about 1.25-1.5" drop ( coilovers) without the rear aftermarket LCA parts

It's going to be around -2.x

hmm, I will try -3 front and -2 rear for now and will upgrade to a LCA if I need more..

continuecrushing 04-07-2014 02:52 PM

My rear camber is -2.5 on both sides, dropped on ST coilovers, with NO aftermarket rear arms/toe links etc).

I am dropped about 1.25"-1.5" front and rear(edit: This is confusing, I am currently dropped between 1.25 and 1.5" all around, I haven't measured it recently, but when I first installed the co's I shot for 1.25, but the way they settled etc the car is about 1.5" or so)
