ARe there that many out there that Scion is still trying to move? I've never seen a manufacturer do that, even at the bottom of the recession.

Yup!

A local dealer still has 3 10 Series still on their lot. Of course they aren't marked down because of the "pure pricing" nonsense. However, I certainly wouldn't want to buy a car that's been sitting on the lot for nearly a year without a heavy discount so that's probably why they aren't selling.

I thought pure pricing only applied to the newest model year? I could be wrong. I wouldn't pay more then 22k for a base 2013.

Actually there are discounts for last year's models (they were even posted on the website). No dealer is going to let last years model sit on their lot without throwing you a bone.

BTW- the earliest they could have been there was probably was June but people were snapping them up when they hit the ports. These are probably the last batch people didn't want because the new (& cheaper) '14s came out and especially when news of the 2014 Monogram hit. It doesn't help sales trying to sell a RWD car with summer tires in winter and a newer model that has a couple of extra features with the ability to choose the color.

raven1231 04-06-2014 04:18 PM

When I got my oil changed a few weeks ago and they were still sitting there for MSRP. If they are discounted, they certainly aren't discounted enough because nobody wants them.

I know that the winter here was terrible, I barely drove my car, but it's still kind of disappointing that they have 2013s on the lot and the 2015s will be rolling in shortly. It kind of reminds me of the 370z, I saw 2009s on the lot when the 2011s were coming in and the Nissan dealers were still asking $1000-$2000 below MSRP on a car that was 2 years old.

I paid 22k for my 2013 "new". I'm sure it varies from dealer to dealer.

My 10 series was 1500 off MSRP back in December of 2013. :) it was on "manager special"

32k?!?!, let me guess, they put on a bunch of accessories (OEM and non) including rust inhibitor and asteroid proofing. Come on, that's a particularly dopey dealership to think anybody is going to buy that.

Im honestly not sure, I saw the number 32000 on the windshield and i proceeded to shriek, jump up and cling onto the roof with my head spinning.

My local dealer has a 10 Series with a tacked-on wing and aftermarket leather, it was previously priced at $32k but they've knocked it down to $27.6 now... I kinda wanted to buy it until I saw what was done to the interior.

Starting to believe this:

Clueless dealers do the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ no favors
