Agree. Brilliant sound.

BTW, Nob was saying the reason why the lap by the SC was same as the one by the NA was due to the too tight setup of the rear brakes. He couldn't get into the conners w/ expected speed. It should have been better if they did a bit tuning of the rear brakes.

Shit, I got this.

Driver: The supercharger was like, "Whooooosh," and the engine was like, "BRRRAAAAAAAP BRRAAAP BRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP," and then the tires were like, "SKREEEEE KEEE KEEEEE KKEEEEEKEKEKEKE," and then the crowd was like, "DAMN!"

I may be paraphrasing a bit, but that about sums it up. You're welcome :)

ESBjiujitsu 05-15-2012 12:26 PM

Don't blame me for my poor translation. I will post more later.

-Around 4:00

HKS:
Good morning, here we are at the Tsukuba circuit.
We've done the time attack before at the Tsukuba, and the drift testing at the short course of Fuji speedway. Now, we are coming back to the Tsukuba w/ SCed 86 for time trial again.. We'll see how it is going.
Nobuteru Tanigushi is going to drive the HKS 86. Let's see how he is doing.

-Around 5:00

HKS:
What do think, Nob?

Nob:
Hmm... The front looks totally different from before. Yes, wider.
Especially here, see, yes, it is racy. (# oops, this is Japanglish, "lei-see" meaning "racing-like".)
Wow, now the roll bars inside! But the doors are......standard ("no-malu").....

-Caption around 6:30

First trial w/ GT supercharger on top of the standard FA20 to check out the engine, steering and braking.

I do what little I can, brother. :)

yajin 05-15-2012 01:38 PM

-Around 7:44

Nob:
I am still feeling tight or heavy on steering, but not exactly like "no-rewinding at all"....
HKS:
Any different from the last time in the rainny condition?
Nob:
Not much.....
HKS:
How about the hand braking?
Nob:
Works great!
HKS:
Or too much?
Nob:
Not really, more like "reliable" braking.
HKS:
How about the front brake pads? These are new from Endless.
Nob:
Now, I didn't drive aggressively yet though.....Not bad.

Hint at boost pressure HKS is using.

It seems as if they are not running very much boost under their current configuration.

At the 5:32 mark, the caption states 0.45 kg/cm^2 (which is a unit of pressure). Considering the context of the video at that time mark, I can only assume that they are indeed talking about the output of the centrifugal supercharger. Correct me if I am wrong, but a little dimensional analysis yields a conversion from 0.45 kg/cm^2 is roughly equal to 6.42 lb/in^2 (psi).

If one takes into account the 12.5:1 compression ratio of the engine, almost 6.4 psi is something! I wonder if they actually did lower the compression ratio of the engine...hmm.

Yes, right, "0.45 kg/cm^2" is about the boost pressure from the supercharger. I don't know about their idea of the pressure tuning for FA20, but they and Nob are talking about its acceleration feeling at the end of the video.

Does anybody know which ST model HKS uses for the 86/BRZ?
