Any performance data for basic AVO, JRSC etc?

I'm currently entertaining the possibility of going FI.

Am wondering if anybody has any real world performance data on things such as 0-60 times, 0-100 times, quarter mile times, etcetera for basic FI kits such as the AVO stage 1, Vortec, Jackson Racing or Kraftwerks kits.

I've seen plenty of dyno results and driving impressions but I'm curious to know what kind of real world performance gains I should expect for my money.

I know that 0-60 and quarter mile times aren't definitive as such but they'd be very useful benchmarks in terms of deciding whether or not to pull the trigger on an FI kit.

They should all be similar. Power is power. What other aspects are you looking for? Reliability, transient responses, cooling, repeatable performance, growth potential, etc. There are a few aspects to look at besides surface numbers.

Reliability, transient responses, cooling, repeatable performance. Track worthiness.

It'll mate with a Robispec radiator & oil cooler setup for cooling.

Growth potential - not so much. Don't want to overstress the rest of the mechanicals.

Just trying to get an idea of what kind real world numbers the 250 or so wheel horsepower from the entry level, good quality FI kits translate to given the investment involved.

Turbo is great for power, but heat and instant response are going to be your biggest issue. We go to the track often to dial suspension and provide driving instruction to clients. At the track, we've had few to no encounters with the Vortech and KW on track so we cannot accurately assess all those particular performance characteristics accurately. At this point, we can recommend the JRSC with the oil cooler kit. The stock radiator actually cools quite well, but a slightly larger radiator will benefit in your Dubai weather especially if you're at WOT for an extremely long time. :)

It would be nice to see some MotorTrend or proper magazine test one of the vendors cars vs stock to really see in a controlled environment what the performance is like, but I feel like on a forum with questionable quality control in terms of testing you're not going to get very representative results. Here's a video someone just posted of a Vortech car (which is currently making 300whp, not sure what it was making in the video) vs 2 NA BRZ/FRS.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV0ptSov4VA"]86 vs BRZ vs Vortech Supercharged 86 from a roll - YouTube[/ame]

Pretty good indication that the power added is useful, particularly with such a light car as we have.

Those magazines are not quite "controlled" per say. ;)

I suspect the turbo setups will destroy the SC setups for raw acceleration tests.

I've tried many times to get owners to all come to the same event to do some testing, but the best I've ever done at the same event was:

- Greddy kit (no cats, custom tune)
- AVO kit (stage 2, no cats, custom tune)
- Vortech (revised, CARB)
- Jackson Racing (CARB)

Without posting the hard data, I can tell you this:

Response:
Jackson = Vortech >> Greddy >>> AVO

Raw Acceleration:
AVO > Greddy > Jackson = Vortech

Heat Management:
Jackson = Vortech >>> Greddy >> AVO

It was roughly a ~60F ambient day.

Fair enough, but better than most of the hearsay that ends up on forums.

It can be arranged, but people will get butt hurt if their opinions are not positively reinforced. Whoever "X Company" pays off will be touted as the best possible car in the world. Money can manipulate a lot of stuff. Money is what we don't have though. We spend all of it on gas.

CajunFRS 04-02-2014 03:52 PM

Do you recall what numbers the Avo Stage 2 with custom tune had put down?

Yeah, I wish we could get past all the political BS and more to people sharing data. If people could get past their personal hangups and initial fears of posting numbers then as more and more folks posted up results we'd start to end up with a larger, more diverse data set.

In turn it'd make it a lot easier to justify purchasing and installing an FI kit from a cost/benefit perspective. Right now all we have is dyno figures, which don't explain how fast cars go in the real world.

Anyhow, thought I'd ask because the search doesn't turn up much.

Appreciate whatever people have shared to far!

Oh how much data we have shared yet everybody thinks it's biased. Unfortunately, an iceberg is the easiest term I can relate our efforts to. I'm glad to hear you have some sort of motivation to find more content and less fluff for this car. :thumbsup:
