EcuTek map switching with OFT?
 

so has anyone cracked the EcuTek software code on how they implement the map switching with the cruise control? flashing roms with OFT isn't too bad but when switching between maps constantly it can get time consuming... thoughts?

This is something that I don't see happening with the hardware as is. It requires breaking and rewritting essential code that dictates the way the ECU operates. @shiv@vishnu mentioned possibly integrating the PROcede box into the OFT for such functions. Or you could just buy Ecutek...

but EcuTek doesn't change anything hardware. if ffs and lc could be implemented (is it from EcuTek?) then shouldn't the map switching technically be possible? just as soon as the code is cracked.. thoughts about this? @shiv@vishnu

ECUtek hacked apart the base programming of the ECU to add such function. The open source community isn't "cracking" the programming of the ECU, they are translating the Hex Code of the tables to usable definitions so that tables can be modified for the desired effects.

It a whole new level to alter the actual ECU program to get it to perform additional functions.

Kind of like Editing an excel spread sheet as opposed to editing the actual excel program to get it to perform addition functions.

Its technical possible but unlikely as the open source guys work for free and the time and effort required would be large.

FFS/LC were tables in the original ECU code that were just not used.

LC is used on tons of vehicles from the factory and I believe the twins are included in this. I know my mom's Grand Cherokee has it set to something like 4500RPM (with ~6500RPM Redline). This function is used to keep cars from being overreved with no load. It is just a secondary Fuel Cut Rev Limit in the instance that speed is less than the set value.

Not something an advanced user can do either. It takes a special skillset in programming to pull off. It really comes down to a lot of invested time moreso than skil though.

Or you could just buy the Ecutek software and keep it simple.

You can even use the open maps in ECUtek as well....

I haven't seen evidence of a hacked ECU anywhere. FFS and LC are defined in the stock setting. My understanding is that SD is accomplished through table modifications and is not available from open source tuning options for the twins.

Pardon my ignorance, but I figured I'd bump this thread since I found it while searching...

Why would you want to switch tunes, or why do you guys do it "often"? Only reasons I can think are going from E85/unleaded, and for smog or dealership visits.
