BRZ engine has been Supercharged by Subaru

This article shows impressive numbers with Subaru adding a supercharger to the FA series flat 4 using their own direct injection system rather than Toyota's.

They know this because Subaru has developed the first supercharged version of the 2.0-liter FA-series four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that is now used in the 2013 Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S. Subaru has put the new turbocharged engine into the updated Japanese-market Legacy sedan and Outback wagon. Reports say the new turbocharged engine will develop an impressive 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This is significantly more than the current 200 horsepower boxer engine we see in the 2013 Subaru BRZ.
Um, so which is it; turbo or supercharger? This article is really poorly written.

This is like the 4th time this has been posted.

And it's a turbo.

Turbocharging is technically supercharging. But they're usually not used interchangeably. The engine they displayed is turbocharged, with the turbine being driven by the exhaust.

Exciting news indeed... if it's true. (Im assuming this is a turbo)

Toyota: 'I told you we should not have shared that Direct Injection! Now look!'

Yeah I'm psyched. However, the current BRZ may be plenty for me. I love the Ignition TV review

Boo, I thought they actually put a supercharger on it. Way to get my hopes up for nothing!
