Do we have bass??
 

Hey guys I have a new BRZ and I've struggled with the sound settings of the stock system. There is no place to increase the bass on our headunit. We have that spot where there are like 6 different adjustables but I haven't found that to be very helpful... Not that I have any idea what any of those settings mean. It just seems like my car has little to no bass compared to other cars I've owned or been in. Am I missing something?

It sacrifices this so called "bass" to create a more neutral sounding system. It sounds more dynamic.

Not every genre of music requires an overly amount of bass.


I noticed the stock system says no to the loudness war. Though i doubt very few have any idea of what i speak of...

car just doesn't have a sub or 6x9s. Hard to get bass when those two conditions exist

Yes I agree the system does sound clean and I enjoy it. I'm also not someone who needs enormous amounts of bass like a sub would provide. Certain songs that I would listen to in my old car are just noticeably different in my new brz

I prefer not having a subwoofer. I think it's obnoxious to have one in a sports car as it adds weight, takes up valuable space, rattles the car loose, and sucks up battery. I've found that I usually end up turning stock subs down to the minimum anyway as it sounds too imbalanced with it on. But to each their own. It's probably not hard to add a sub if you want one.

The bass is simply terrible even if you prefer it at neutral levels. It results in generally poor audio reproduction, because distortion by bass muddies up the rest of the frequencies.

If you want good bass, you'll need to get yourself a sub. Assuming you get a crossover for it, the existing speakers clean up quite nicely.

I keep my levels flat, and maximize the power of the system to my needs. There's so much bass you can get before the doors rattle and you get distortion, so I go for the cleanest route.

Phone connected via bluetooth, turn the phone down to about 50%, and the audio headunit to 100%. Adjust the phone's volume where necessary, get maximum power out of the audio system with minimal distortion.

Interesting. I just don't hear any thumping. The optional sub may have been what I needed

the 6.5's in the door are the 'subs'.... and they're crappy at it like 6.5's normally are..

Just upgrade the speakers and head unit. Gotta pay to play.

Will try this. Disappointed by Bluetooth audio. The highs sounds terrible on dash. Plug in via quality auxiliary cable and noise goes away. I have powered sub fwiw. May just give appradio 3 a try

While were on the topic.. Is there a way to show pandora display on subaru head unit? It shows up on my moms Chevy head unit.
