Is this cap important
Just was looking at my engine compartment and was wondering if this cap on top of the metal tube was important or needed to be there

That's where the AC system is recharged if need be. It's a dust cap to keep crap out of the valve, leave it on.

Anyone know the part number for the cap so i can get it replaced

They are pretty standard across all cars, might be able to just go to NAPA/Autozone and get one.
