I use the FR-S as a daily driver and I am so glad that I ended up going with the AT - every. single. day.

This is just me, but I can't envision anything worse than rowing through a bunch of gears at 8am in a traffic jam before work. Doing that 5 days a week would probably drive me insane after a while, haha.

If I didn't live in a cramped city with tons of traffic, I would consider the manual though

I live in the north part of Chicago and live just a few blocks from Lake Michigan and work in the NW burbs. I have a 23 mile commute each way and I love rowing gears at 8 am!!! I crank up my iPod, put down the windows, and row row row my FR-S to work. I get to work with a smile on my face. To each their own. Maybe a year from now I'll think differently, but for now, row on!

Granted, I live in LA, the traffic capital of the world, and go through an hour and a half commute total going to and from work. I elected to choose manual since my current DD (Honda Civic 97), is stick and I got used to it. Plus I felt like the driving experience wouldnt be as enjoyable with an AT (even with the higher MPG with AT.) Am I nuts goin MT with this car? Also who else is making this their DD

I live in the LA area, and its my DD. It's awesome, and makes every (ok, maybe not all!) drive to work fun.

I'll be relieved the day I can stop DD'ing my MR2 and get into a plushy 6MT BRZ with air conditioning, navigation, heated seats... hell, just power steering and windows would be nice! And to be able to cruise on the highway at less than 4,000rpm? That will be a real luxury! (okay, my DD situation is probably one of the extreme cases)

No regrets with the AT. A little jealous watching my buddies drifting at the tracks...I've taken the car to the tracks several times for time attacks, and I appreciate the fast paddle shifters.

Then I remember it's my DD and I don't have the time to mess around on weekends, nor the money to pay for 6+ sets of tires for a full day of drifting. Nor do I have the money to fix the body and make repairs if I slip up, as I am not a pro racer/drifter. And I remember my 2 hour drive through beltway traffic on 495.

I'm perfectly okay with the AT. Shifters were fast enough it saved me from a near-fatal collision with a truck the other day. I ended up driving it off the road ultimately, but I can't say I would have reacted that fast with a stick though. Yes, my car is in the shop for a month.

Well said same reason why I'm getting AT
