18" wheels, 8.5 or 9.5 recommendations?

Hey guys, I am looking for new sets of wheel. Actually, my first lol! I am still learning and I have done few research on my own. I want your opinion since most of you guys have experience.

I am looking at either rota's wheel or enkei's wheel or similar
http://www.rotawheels.com/wheel.php?id=105
Or the RPF1
etc......

I am looking at 18" wheels
and 8.5 or 9" width

I also want good tires for those wheels. Can you guys suggest me something good =D

are you on stock suspension or coils???

Mikeez 03-28-2014 05:05 PM

Stock, all stock so far. I'm starting =p
I think of adding coilovers.. maybe meganfox or a kw variant.. like ST coilovers...
I want cheap and good coilover. Not for track but for street day/day use

I mainly daily drive my car as well. I have ST coilovers and I have to say they are amazing! If you're on a budget I would definitely recommend them. Sometimes I even forget I swapped out my suspension.

As for the wheels, both sizes have their advantages and disadvantages such as weight, feeling less responsive etc. However an inch or so shouldn't make too much of a difference. I would pick up some coilovers before getting new wheels so you can have a bigger variety of choices as some sets have trouble clearing the stock strut.

Hopefully this helped some!

RPF1s all the way... a few hundred more expensive for the whole set over ROTAs, and they are MAT formed/spun formed wheels, significantly stronger. There's a reason why you see the RPF1 used on the pro drifting circuit.

If cost is your number 1 concern, go with rotas. if strength, weight, and quality is, go RPF1.

offset ? 9.5 is brutal if you have offset more than +38

guslucatero 03-28-2014 07:34 PM

well then theres your answer....i personally was in the market for wheels as well,
but then i backed down, because i would rather get coils first.
so right now i am saving until i have enough to buy them.
like mention before with coils you have a bigger option on which wheels to get

Okay guys, thank you so much. I will be going with ST Coilover and 8.5x18 enkei rpf1

The coilovers sound great. The RPF1 is a great wheel, no doubt. But if you start looking they are everywhere. Easily the most bought wheel for the FRS. I would look at something a little more unique. good luck

And to be clear, I just ordered Enkei Raijin's so they aren't super unique either. But the RPF1 is on a whole other level. I guess they are the most popular for a reason.

If you're going to track your car, then get RPF1's. If not, then get whatever you love the look of. I have rota grids 18x9.5 with 255/35s and they look and fit great.
