e85 Disappearing Act - NY Special

Well, it looks like I might be on my last tank of e85. I went to fill up tonight and the pumps were "Out of Service." I asked if they were to to find out when they were getting more and sure enough, they had plenty in the tanks, but they didn't think anyone would pay $3.60/gallon. They said the next order would cost $4/gallon and that they weren't buying.

Has anyone else heard of e85 price increases by them? This would really suck if this wonder fuel dried up because it is no longer economical for the average consumer who isn't interested in performance. They turned the pump on for me at $3.60/gallon, but I don't see them having any more by the time I need my next fix.

To the mods. I felt this was the best subforum for this thread since you need to tune to run the stuff. If any mod feels it needs to be moved, I understand.

Edit: I found a relevent article: http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/0...0ML1T120140324

I just filled up yesterday at 2.99/gallon in VA

brichard0625 03-27-2014 09:45 PM

i just filled up for 3.40 something i dont remember exact price but i live in ny too, what station did you go to if you dont mind me asking?

Luckrider 03-27-2014 09:52 PM

Prestige Valero in Newburgh. The station is just too close to avoid which makes e85 a no brainer for me. There is a station not far from work, and only one about 15 mins from home across the Hudson so I could make it work if those two stay in supply, but I would probably drop it as my fuel choice if I can't get it as easily as I have been able to.

You guys don't know how nice you have it!

In the good old Aussie Land your looking at $1.40/L for E85, $1.80/L for Premium.

Adjusting for currency your looking at $4.90us for E85 or $6.25us for Premium.

So, I ended up looking up the permits for NY and the federal one, and I am thinking of submitting an application with the Feds and State for an Alcohol Fuel License for the hahas of it. If I actually get one, I would then see about pushing to actually make the stuff myself.

Ouch. Talk about perspective.

3.79$ in CA and rising.

I have two stations near me in Oceanside, crazy price difference. One is $3.69, the other is $3.89.

Our "premium" 91 oct is around $4.29 in the same area. Screwed either way, might as well have more power.
