QQQQBall's "RE"Build FR-S Thread (PIC HEAVY)
Figured I would start a thread so I could have something to look back on when it's all said and done -
I'm a true believer in "Built not Bought" and tend to take it to the extreme. Since most of us buy a car and modify it the way we want...why not by a car that was declared "dead" by the insurance company and bring her back to life the way you want? 1) It'll be cheaper in the long run (just more time consuming) 2) You don't have to feel guilty about removing perfect OEM parts Bad news - the car is tainted for life with the letter "R"... I hope those garnishes are working out for you bud.

Don't remember what I sold, but glad I could help! Can't wait to see your progress.
As for suspension, I went with SPC LCA's because they're low priced. If you want coilovers good for DDing then I can recommend SPD Pro-Street coilovers. If you're looking for performance/tracking then I'm sure someone else can point you in the right direction. |
That's great to hear. Hopefully the radiator treats you well.
I'm glad you make a valid point on a rebuild. I bought my car new Feb 2013 and threw a piston rod back in October 2013. Unfortunately, Toyota would not warranty the engine issues (long story short, lol). Last week I finished my car with the engine rebuild, tuning, parts, etc. and finally got her back on the road. The amount of changes I did would have been more budget "friendly" if I were to buy this car used or rebuilt a crashed one. With the growing support for this platform and the amount of damaged FRS/BRZ parts out there I'm sure this will be a very fun and rewarding project for you. Best of luck on your build! And thanks :) |
how in the shit does a wooden fence do THAT MUCH front end damage to that Z? wtfffffffffffff?

Dat FD tho...Good luck on the build sir!
|
FD looks familiar. Is that "Quinn?"
|
that FD has an LS2 in it.... located in CT
|
Not him then. Guy lives in the Hartford area, where I'm from.
Anyway, if the car is going to see snow, steer clear of the cheap, aluminized-steel shock body coilovers. I've had an excellent experience with RS-R Sports-i coils... and my KWs lasted multiple CT winters while I was there. |
holy stupidity batman
