OpenFlash Tablet Wideband O2 Kit
Hi guys,
As some may know from our Facebook page, we have been working on integrating a wideband o2 sensor to the OpenFlash Tablet. And it works great. Right now we are just trying to source some connectors so that it can be 100% plug and play. Currently we are just replacing the secondary o2 sensor with a Bosch Wideband o2 sensor (LSU4.2). It plugs into a wideband controller. And that will hopefully plug right into the secondary o2 sensor connector once we source the needed bits. We have added a "Wideband AFR" channel to the OFT logging that converts the analog output of the wideband controller to AFR. As you can see from the following graph, the factory AFR and Wideband AFR reads very similarly until exhaust temps begin to rise (high high RPM WOT). At which point the factory o2 sensor reads leaner than they really are (which is certainly on the safe side of things): http://www.datazap.me/u/shivvishnu/o...12&zoom=14-135 http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...40186505_n.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...36968850_n.jpg This secondary o2 bung location is ideal for those with cat-less headers (like the OFH) since it is recommending that no cat be upstream of the wideband sensor. For those with catted headers, it is recommended to install the WB sensor just upstream of the cat using the supplied weld-in bung. I should have word on the plug-n-play connectors later this week. At which time we will be able to give release date estimates and prices. But expect it to cost around $200 for the OFT wideband kit. In the meantime we will be fine tuning the calibration to ensure best possible accuracy :) Cheers, shiv |
This is awesome news. It is also nice to see so real confirmation about the accuracy of the factory unit. Is this just you preparing that next step for your turbo shop car?

Great job! Will the ecu then use the wideband data in place of the primary sensor? Will you be able to provide the logging address for this data, for those of us who also log with tactrix?

Most peoples logs show AFR in mid to high 11 for AFR. And low LTFT. Obviously this is not needed for everyone. I assume this is to be able to get the best target AFR for optimizing power by not relying on the more inaccurate factory sensor. Will you be using this info on your logging to optimize the of the shelf tunes? Or is that a bad idea as those of us with the OEM sensor will see a different reading? Sorry if I did not word that appropriately.

I'm curious how well the wideband will accurately read with the OFH since there is an extension in the place of the secondary sensor.

Will this support any wideband O2, for those who don't want a Bosch LSU? Also, which wideband controller are you using as this is a big factor in how well the sensor works and lasts?
