Where to buy carbon activated cabin air filter?

So I went to the dealer to check on some fan blowing noise (unfixable btw) and the guy said I need to replace my cabin air filter and that there was a carbon activated one that comes looking black that might be available. He didn't know if the dealer OEM one was this but it was 70 bucks.. O'reilly auto parts has it for our car for 30 bucks but I do not know if it is the carbon one.

Does anyone know where to buy the carbon one besides from the dealer?

edit: some threads say these are OK but looking at the dimensions they wouldn't fit well.

What was the fan blowing noise? I had my motor replaced after whirring/buzzing noise that wasn't normal but it didn't fix the problem. You have the same issue or something else?

Don't tell me you guys tried to fix the fan from the heater/AC...

sounds like a cd whirring sound underneath the glove compartment. it's just the way the car sounds there is no fix. every new FRS i saw on the lot has the same thing.

lol yes. my dealer stopped me and showed me every car which had the same sound tho. i might just try to insulate it more so it's not as loud; not that it's loud now but you can hear it when car is not moving and radio is off.

What model year do you have? My new 2014 Monogram does not have this issue.

If you are still within your first 24k miles, Scion owes you a cabin filter as part of their free 2y/24k maintenance offer.

2013. Maybe it was fixed in 2014? Not sure. I guess I can try another dealer.

Saying it's a 25k car is a poor excuse for accepting failures in my opinion. If something appears broken I'm going to look for a fix whether it's a BMW or a Scion.

Walmart has these for $17 a piece, buy 2+ and get free shipping..

Thanks, I was just about to search for a place to purchase at a fair price.
