Trailering the FT86 Questions
Those of you that are trailering your cars to and from the track how are you strapping it down to the trailer?
Any tips or best practices? I'm looking at getting an open trailer soon and it seems every person you talk to straps their cars down a different way. I'm looking for some known methods for our cars. Thanks Eric |
Through the wheel spokes.

I personally hate going through the wheels although I've done it. Ideally I prefer "wheel nets", a wheel strap the goes around the tire and connects to e-track. That's assuming you have room to get them onto your tires.

Same trailer and same tie downs that I use for the FRS but different car http://i58.tinypic.com/2vrvkv8.jpg |
We go through the wheels as well with ours.

Through the wheels is the way I have been doing it.

I had my car trailered back from the ProSolo event in Arkansas this weekend. We used tie downs on the front tow hooks, and on the rear we used those little holes that everyone worries about not being plugged from the factory. My co-driver bought these little hooks that are made to fit inside those spots and then we just used tie downs once those hooks were in.
We uses these.. The bottom left hook. you put it in sideways then twist to lock it in. http://www.multiprensusa.com/images/.../RTGJ-Hook.jpg |
Straps are crossed, front and rear; e.g., LF trailer tie-down point connects to RF car tie-down point.

I go through the wheels too. But on the front I use the transport loops underneath on the frame.
