Dash build question (Pleas help!!!)

Quick question; I'm going to build the FR-S dash for my 95' Eclipse but don't know how to get a mold of the dash, any tips or trick on how to do it without causing damage to my FR-S?

thanks in advance. :thanks:

I have made a carbon fiber dash board for something FAR simpler than a FRS.

But the concept is the same:
Get either a real item as your positive or make a replica from wood, foam, etc.

Apply a mold release to the positive.
Cover the positive in something that will harden and retain it's shape (mold making silicone, fiberglass, paper mache, etc.)
Add stiffeners to the back of the negative mold to support it.

Pop it loose from the positive (This might require seams in the negative to get it apart)

clean negative mold
apply mold release
Cover mold in epoxy
Layup fiberglass or CF
Vacuum bag for professional job

Easy right!

wait wut

The following has been though up by me in probably 10 seconds so whatever

step 1, take your FRS (or your friends FRS I suppose)and tape a garbage back to the dash, over the steering wheel, the pillas, the window, pretty much cover anything of the actual car with garbage bag.. but make sure that I is form fitting.. maybe do slits here and there for masking tape to poke through.

Get some of that spray foam and spray the dash area

Wait to dry

Lift it up and tear the garbage bag away

VIOLA, you’ve got an 80% accurate mold

At least I think this would work

Try at your own risk

Thanks again; I'll try this out and see how it comes out.

the 95' eclipse has become my project car; i am rebuilding it from starch. and i love the way the dash on my frs looks. its simple but still elegant, not to mention how everything follows perfectly in the frs. i just want that in my eclipse as well.

As long as it's not a GS-T or GSX, go right ahead! Even though it's probably going to be a bit of a PITA. I just don't see the FR-S dash looking right in a 2G....
