Multiple oil leaks.

Well, I have three oil leaks one in the normal spot which is the second time I've had it fixed by toyota http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45097 one in bottom passenger side of the timing chain cover. The last was on the passenger side near the sparkplug/cam cover. How on earth are the seals on this engine so bad???

Pics uploaded apparently I uploaded the wrong ones, but basically all three covers that are off including the back plate had pretty decent size oil leaks.
I don't understand how they're selling out of them constantly, but mine is the first one in the area to have been brought in multiple times why can't they just lemon it at this point because this is ridiculous.

How many miles, also they don't lemon it. You have to file court proceedings for lemon law.

around 5k really? I figured I would just have to go through like scion corporate or something.

Mine is going for even more extensive repair next week.
Valve covers and rear camshaft caps have already been resealed once.
Still leaking from the right camshaft carrier, so the engine will be pulled out once more and all the seams resealed again.

In the state of California, they only have three tries to correct an issue.

Look up the lemon laws in your area. I would have flipped a table by the 2nd repair.

I believe it's three here in GA as well. If it was my only car I definitely would have, luckily I have other toys.

Is yours leaking where mine is? I think my seals aren't good, however i'm FI. I'm not losing oil at an alarming rate tho.

This is in the front drivers side.

samisons 03-23-2014 10:59 PM

Yes same area opposite side.. what the hell is going on with this cars quality control...

samisons 03-23-2014 11:01 PM

The mechanic told me it seemed to be a much stronger/special sealant that Subaru uses, but why are all of our cars having these leaks?

samisons 03-27-2014 07:39 PM

Car is fixed, but I can't Say Left the dealer Happy Car had white Sealant everywhere in and around the Car u At Least no more burning oil Smell.

Thanks for posting this thread!

I went to fix the cam plate, took three tries to get that to stop leaking.
But I was still getting smoke off the headers - A LOT OF SMOKE.

Ran a dentist mirror into the area... valve cover leak about 6 inches long.

Thought I was going nuts. Then found your thread.

Sounds like the sealing tech at the factory just plain went to lunch on your motor man!
But thank you again for sharing your issue.

I must be the lucky one. I barely even lose 1/4 of a quart between oil changes. Even so I keep a quart in the car all the time just in case...
