Will u remove the spare tire?
The FT86 is all about weight. Any reduction will improve performance. I noticed somewhere that it has a full scale spare wheel/tire in the trunk.
Does anyone consider keeping it home and ride lighter? :burnrubber:  |
No, because I'm sure the day I do I will get myself a flat. I'd rather everything be a fraction slower than be stranded somewhere with a flat.
|
I don't think it's a full sized spare anymore, but I'm sure someone will correct me on this. As for removing the spare tire - for everyday driving I'll be keeping it in, but for track days I'll pull it out to save that extra 15lbs.
EDIT: Plus what he ^ said  |

I'll pull it out at the track/autox. Other than that it stays in.

Around town, its out. On a road trip, Im taking it with me. I have free towing anyway if something were to go really wrong.

Hopefully someone will pull out the spare and tools and weigh them. I'm guessing 30-35 pounds.
I have a feeling that unless I'm on a road trip...it will be out :burnrubber: |

Car&Driver calls the spare wheel compact. http://buyersguide.caranddriver.com/scion/fr-s/specs Edmunds calls the spare wheel "Temporary spare tire". http://www.edmunds.com/scion/fr-s/20...res-specs.html Last but not least the owner's manual calls the spare wheel compact ("The compact spare tire is identified by the label “TEMPORARY USE ONLY” on the tire sidewall") and goes to great lengths explaining the precautions to be taken when driving with the compact wheel on the car. |
was this car about weight or balance? at 26xx lbs and 55/45 weight distribution i dont know which one they really focused on and which one we should focus on

How much does the spare weigh anyway? If you're really that concerned about weight maybe you should go on a diet....

(the spare in my car is staying though. Unless I'm autocrossing or something) |
Remove it? Not me! I love this placement! My question is -- do USDM cars come equipped as seen below??
