Just Bought Mine Today!!
Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is Ryan and I just lucked my way into a Scion FR-S and wanted to say hey to everyone. Toyota flew a guy from California out to Asheville, NC, so he could see the car and purchase it. Well he got there and realized he just got $8,000 worth of free travel and expenses and decided not to purchase the car. I happened to be looking at a used 370z at the dealership and wanted to see if they had a release date for the FR-S yet. The dealer told me the guy literally just passed up on the white one they had (1 of 2 in all of NC) and it was now for sale. Without hesitation I traded in my CR-Z and now have an FR-S in my driveway!
Does anyone know how many are out in the U.S. at this point? I would like to think that I'm one of the (very) lucky few. Either way, I'm incredibly excited and look forward to being a semi-productive member of your forum! |
welcome and...where is the pictures?
|
I would say you are quite lucky, considering, to my knowledge, that most of the First 86 members, myself included, haven't gotten their cars. In my case, and a few others, our cars are waiting at the dealership for a "release party."
Hope you're enjoying it in that beautiful town of yours! |
Congratz. Was the guy that passed on the car one of the "First 86"? If so you should ask for your FR-S car cover that those guys were getting.

Wow, good luck on your part! That's awesome! :w00t:
Now pics or it never happened! |
ORLY?
'Cause they aren't supposed to be sold before June 1st. I mean, I sell them, and that's what I've been told. So.... The whole story sounds fishy to me. Why would Toyota fly someone across country to buy one? doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But hey, I could always be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. :dnftt: |

But it could also be possible the First 86'er didn't qualify for the purchase and it became available. Technically 86 should be done by the 18th, so it's likely not a HUGE deal. Most dealers had the 86ers come in to do their paperwork ahead of the actual purchase date to prevent an oddball scenario if there is the "event" and he can't really take the care home, lol. |
Pics or I don't believe it. U got a smartphone right? Pics bro! I want to see the sexy whiteout!

yeah, doesn't pass the smell test for me...

Doesnt sound right at all. Most of the FR-S' are landing in the Port of LA anyway. Why ship both the car and the owner to NC to get it??
|
Why would Toyota fly an individual across the country to buy a car? And where the hell did this $8000 number come from?
Sounds like BS from the dealer...but who cares, it's yours now! |
I'm pretty sure that the OP meant that they flew someone from Asheville, NC to California. This most likely means that it was a first86 that went to California and then when his frs got to the dealership in NC, he chose not to buy it.

trollolololol. If I counted correctly MAYBE 12 of the first 86 have their cars. Although they are all supposed to be in the hands of owners by may18.
