Which EBC?

Hi guys,

I currently have the AEM failsafe - was wondering which EBC you guys use? I really want utilise the failsafe function and was wondering if there are any models that fit below the aircon/heating controls, in that little tray area.

Cheers!

Maybe try turbo smart eboost street, it's small and rectangular.

would the 2.72bar sensor be sufficient enough for when I build my engine? Looking into doing so later on the down the track

I use a COBB 3 port so my boost is electronically controlled via the ECU (and therefor switchable via maps on the fly thru EcuTek).

Unfortunately I'm not going down the path of ecutek.

Will be using a haltech unit as I live in Australia - that said, i would still like an EBC.. will most likely be using the eboost1 at this point

Same as Grimm Speed: http://circuitse7en.net/fantcube/ind...d&productId=13

^I was after an EBC not a manual one, which I presume that one is

I had the GFB G-Force II and it fit in that little tray area. I would just pull it out when I wanted to adjust it:

OO that looks nice and simple - here in australia EBCs are deemed illegal so something like that would be nice.

Cheers!

I tried both Turbosmart and AVO EBCs, they both work well if you know how to set them up right, but its not as simple as 10 PSI = 10 PSI, you have to set wastegate duty cycle and gain settings to achieve the proper boost at the proper rate.

Is this all that difficult? Arn't those adjustments the advantages of a EBC over a manual.

It's actually a solenoid that is run by your ECU (EcuTek tune). The Grimm Speed boost solenoid is a popular option for subie owners as a direct factory replacement. Best to check out Grimm Speed's site, as they have done a better job at marketing it, even though it's the identical solenoid. This route is more integrated than a stand-alone ebc, as you can have different maps/boost settings that change in tandem via your ecu map. Ie. one for race gas and one for crap gas. Just switch the map the way you normally would via the cruise control stalk, and instant change to different maps/boost settings.

You can also easily wire the AEM fail safe gauge to provide boost-cut to the solenoid so your boost drops to wastegate spring pressure if the AEM gauge detects anything off.

Just noticed that you won't be using EcuTek.. not sure about the Halteck's abilities for controlling a boost solenoid.. but for the price I'd assume it can? If EBC's are illegal in Aus, this is also a much more stealth way to have ebc without an external controller.

hmm, that is some very useful insight - Say I get that boost solenoid, I wouldn't need to purchase an ebc as the solenoid can tap into the AEM failsafe so I can enable it's failsafe function - am I on the right track? EBCs are freaking expensive down under, the turbosmart eboost cuts close to $800 AUD - the boost solenoid would be a much cheaper option at this point for me.. might have to take up your offer on that if that is the case!

I would also assume that the haltech unit can be wired up to solenoid you linked me to - I mean, you would expect it to when I am paying something close to $1200 for the Platinum Sport 1000.
