Tomei 60S Fitment Low?

Hey guys,

Had my Tomei Type 60S installed yesterday and noticed the muffler and bend sits rather low. My car is somewhat lowered..

Is this generally how these systems fits?

Just want clarification from others..

Should be about there .. mine wasn't that low as my car wasn't lowered.

I think you can still move it more. My type-80 has maybe less than half an inch of clearance from the subframe? to the top of the pipe. It used to look like how yours is right now, sagging/low in the middle. Not sure if it will be the same as the type 80.

Damn. Better watch out for pot holes and road debris to keep that pretty metal clean!

Whoa that's way too low. Looks like there's more room to go up near the subframe.

Thanks guys for the feedback..

Seems most hang low but I'll try move it up a tad bit more..

Love the tomei system on my Evo which doesn't hang low at all.

I find the lack of turbo in the BRZ/86 makes this tomei system louder than I thought, but still a nice note. Now I just need a supercharger to match the noise it makes..

Love the Tomei! Great choice :)

It does sit quite low but I think that's a bit TOO low, maybe check it over one more time

My Tomei 80R exhaust hung low where it crossed under the subframe, but with some tweeking and twisting where the pipes clamp together got it up there to around 1/2'' from the subframe.

It still hangs pretty low though.

Here's a pic of mine that I installed Wednesday. It's a little low in my opinion, I'm going to try to get it a little higher, but I was trying to get it higher when I installed it too ... lol

I love everything about my Tomei 60S, but I am concerned about the clearance as there are a lot of speed bumps, potholes, and torn up roads that I can't avoid at times driving where I live.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get more clearance than what I have now, and if so, how does one go about doing that? I've heard some people mention "twisting" it, but I didn't really see how that was supposed to be done during the installation - can you adjust it higher if the spring-clips aren't on the exhaust? I had them on before lifting it up to the car, but I've seen some people mention that you're not supposed to clip the piping together until after it's bolted on.

Here are a few images of the clearance I have now - my car is not lowered, everything about it sans the exhaust and a few cosmetic modifications is stock.

For reference, I measured the clearance and ATM I have exactly 4" clearance for the lowest hanging part.

If I'm not mistake, stock muffler is approximately around that position as well...

Defiantly not - there is a whole raised dome-like area right past the bumper that the stock muffler sits in, which this exhaust doesn't fill at all. It did hang down a little bit, but not as much as the Tomei 60S muffler let alone the pipe that connects to it and hangs even lower than the muffler.

I understand that this exhaust is going to hang a bit low, but I just want to ensure that I have as much clearance as is possible to get with it.

Hm. I'll talk to the president of Tomei later. Our clients haven't had any clearance issues with it yet so I didn't know it was an issue. Thanks for the info.

Why did Tomei separate the silencer and the exhaust tip? Should have made it look like the 80R, would have made for more ground clearance and a better looking exhaust!
