Bought a car from Clint@Heuberger, question about dealer service

Hey all,

I bought a BRZ from Clint back in 2013, and had it shipped to my location in Georgia. I was wondering if anyone else who lives far from Colorado had any experience getting a local dealership to service their Subaru, and if so what kind of services they provide under warranty.

Thanks!

They will provide all warranty services as required by Subaru just like the next dealer. Some things they may not do for free that your selling dealer would like reprogram your DRL's....

Dealers make money off servicing your vehicle. They will happily do any warranty or service work for you :)

You should have zero worries.

Ask Clint.

Why? I have had my Subaru, Honda, Mazda, etc all serviced from different dealers than I purchased from. There is nothing to ask. Subaru of America backs his warranty, not his dealer. As long as the work that is needed qualifies under the warranty, any Subaru dealer will do the work.

And if it is service that is not covered under the warranty they will do the work for their normal rate.

1. You have money for a service
2. They need to perform service for your money
3. ???
4. Profit!

All jokes aside, all your warranties and serviceable contracts are accepted through all Subaru certified dealerships unless stated other wise per dealership.

Absolutely. I remember buying a Toyota out of town a few years ago. A couple of weeks later, I got a letter from my local Toyota dealership essentially saying, Sorry we didn't sell you a car, but please bring your car in for service, we want your service business anyway.

To get some hook ups. He seemed very helpful.

Hookups on what? Asking Clint (or any salesperson) for info on service for a car that is located hundreds of miles away is akin to asking Microcenter to help service a TV bought at Best Buy from the same manufacturer. The manufacturer offers the warranty, any authorized Subaru dealership can perform this warranty service on behalf of the manufacturer.

Any service work is either 1) paid by Subaru via dealer reimbursement, or 2) paid by customer. There is a rare scenario 3) where dealer pays for work, either by accident or otherwise.

Warranty work goes with the car and every dealer is obligated to provide you warranty work if you are entitled to coverage. Obviously we're assuming no prior conditions where mods may have caused the damage in question.

The only freebies you may not get, are any "loyal customer" freebies the dealer may have offered you when selling a car. This would only be available through the dealer you bought from.

All Subaru Dealers are independently owned. However, the warranty is backed by Subaru North America. The services "provided" are just warranty work. Maintenance Items are not covered by the bumper to bumper warranty.

The only difference is the treatment you'll get at the dealership. From experience, if you bought the car from the dealership you service your car at, they'll be "nicer" to you.

I went to two Nissan dealers for service for my previous car. One where I bought my car from and one where that's closer to where I live. Whenever I go to the one where I bought my car from, they would give me a rental for minor warranty work. From the one where I live closer , they made me wait there and waste a day. They always ask me "Did you buy your car here?" So customer loyalty plays a part there...

Hey all,

Thanks for the replies! Sorry, I'm new to car ownership and warranty action in general. Next q: anyone know if the Subaru of America contract includes any maintenance work? or is it only for TSBs and/or damage?

JS + BRZ 03-18-2014 08:28 PM

You get 2 yr/24k miles maintenance free plan with your Subaru purchase.

But not sure if that's only for CA though.
