Do you have VALENTI Reverse Bar + Reverse cam? *SOLVED
Hoping to get some helpful feedback from an issue I just realized I'm having...
I installed the Rydeen Duo rear cam a while back...works great. Camera comes on as I shift into reverse like it's supposed to. This weekend I installed the Valenti reverse bar...Didn't change any of the internal wiring like some people did, I just tapped the power from my Driver's side tail light and the brake light. Functions properly...Reverse lights come on, and both the "V" bar and triangle light up when I brake (including F1 style blinking). Great Now the issue...I realized today that my rear cam no longer switches on when I shift into reverse...I understand that I swapped out my reverse bar but my camera is tapped by my driver's side footwell as per this post: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...65&postcount=9 why would switching out the reverse bar affect my rear cam? Can anyone weigh in? |
It could be signal interference from the Valenti LEDs? Unplug your Valenti reverse light and plug your stock bulbs back in and see if it works with the regular filament lights.
You might be able to fix this with a diode placed on either [reverse light or reverse camera] or both wiring harnesses. If that's not possible, you could try to find another place to tap into the reverse signal for your camera or use a relay to try and further separate the signals? Just shooting ideas out. |

I'll try plugging the filament lights back in and see if it works then...That should help to narrow down the issue. Can you explain the purpose of the diode? |
Diodes are like a one-way valve. They allow current to flow only in 1 direction.
It could also be a load/resistance issue, although I'm still not 100% certain how much merit these theories hold. FWIW, I have LED reverse lights and a reverse camera (Rydeen Duo same as you) and it all works just fine. |

Actually now that you mention it - I probably should have clarified this...Before I installed the Valenti Reverse bar I swapped out the regular filament bubls with LEDs and my rear cam worked fine as well...It wasn't until I installed the Valenti Reverse bar that it stopped functioning properly.. |

Surprised no one has this combo that can show me their wiring setup...It's too cold out for me to tinker
|
i have the same set up and same problem so power on backup came i just connect directly to accessories out let. and it works just fine now

So you didn't have to change anything with the reverse trigger wire? Just the power wire? By accessories outlet do you mean the +12V outlet in the glovebox? I already have that wired to my fog lights but I could change that and wire the fogs to my parking lights and then my rear cam to the outlet... Don't wanna do all that though until you confirm that's where you hooked it up... |

Alternatively, I believe you can power up the Rydeen Duo in the trunk. I believe there are instructions on this forum for hooking up directly with the trunk amplifier or something. It keeps the camera "on" all the time, I think, so not perfectly efficient...

Oh, then power it up front in the 16 pin head unit harness.

Check this:

Update: switching power to 12v in glovebox solved the issue.

I've been having a similar problem. However my back up camera is the stock one that comes with the 2016 FRS. I'm running a pioneer NEX 4200 as my HU.
Everything has been working fine until I had recently install the Valenti Third Brake lights. My reverse camera would only display an image when my engine is off and car is in accessory mode and in reverse. But when my car is powered on and in reverse the camera display is black... I now believe that I'm not getting enough power to power the stock camera? Any solutions? =( I really do not want to buy a new camera just for this... |
