Reverse light block off or replacement?

Has anyone came up with a block off plate or replacement for the stupid reverse light at the bottom of the rear bumper? Only part of the car I cant stand.

You could just disconnect the wiring harness, but I don't recall there being other reverse lights...

Is it legal to not have a reverse light?

Nope. It's also a terrible idea.

Valenti makes a replacement, but it doesn't look drastically different.

Be careful with that. The stock reverse lights aren't very bright, and you have to be able to see them from a certain distance to stay legal. Sorry, I don't know the distance. Valenti makes a tinted version, but they also use LEDs, which are much brighter.

get HID bulbs ;)

Another vote here for lens tint and LED bulbs. Blends right in to the bumper, and reverse lights are plenty visible from afar. MY vision is slightly less than before, but with tinted windows it was never stellar anyway, so I'm used to using the brake lights to help see if needed.

I'm replacing mine with an led strip mounted on the bumper beam. I removed that section entirely from my car, it was terribly ugly and didn't fit the style of the car.

bump? any other ideas? Im going with the Toms rear bumper and I might must put mesh with a reverse light behind it and plastic weld the bottom of the V.

I dunno how a functioning and legally required light is "stupid?"

unvevo 04-07-2014 09:31 AM

On the topic of legality. How often are yall driving in reverse on a public road? Although I agree you should not delete your backup lights I'm just wondering how often you are backing on public roads.
