Painting tire letters?
 

Anyone done this before? I'm having some trouble for lack of a better phrase. I already bought & mounted a staggered setup of Toyo Proxes, however I have another set at my house i've been messing around with trying to get the best solution for painting the letters. So far i've tried:

Latex based outdoor paint
Oil based outdoor paint
Tire paint pen(s)
Oil based Sharpie paint pen
Gloss white spray paint with primer

Now out of all these, which are the 5 things I read online, the spray paint is the only one that flexes with the rubber without cracking, however it discolors to a cream white-ish color. This is after leaving them in the sun for maybe 3 days. We've had no rain or bad weather other than sunlight hitting the paint to discolor it. It leads me to believe its the rubber its self that discolors it in some way. Anyone have some feedback on this? I was going to try to spray prime -> paint -> clear next to see if that protects the paint top and bottom, but I figured i'd see if anyone else has had success with this.

Speedhunters says white primer on their tire lettering kit...So like rusto white primer from walmart in the rattle can

I do graffiti so I would recommend my two favorite companys' paint (german montana for FLAT and ironlak for gloss) but for experimenting I tried spanish Montana white and it came out pretty good I would say.

Only $25 for true rubber lettering designed to adhere similar to being in the tire from the factory.

I did be curious if this will last as long as white lettering from the factory

to the guys who've all used some variation of paint, im wondering how long the white color held up before fading and/or turning brownish/yellowish

From that the website claims, the lettering will outlast the tire... States that they put some on a tractor trailer tire for 100,000 miles without losing a letter or them fading out. They also say they received claims that some have even lasted through retreading on tractor trailers.

I plan on getting some of these letters when I finally upgrade my wheel/tire combo rather than painting, personally.

I'd be more worried about if they can withstand the speed in which they'll be rotating at on our cars. You cant make a tractor trailer go too fast.

They claim to have takin cars up to 150+mph with them on. I would imagine being glued to the tires they would stay put pretty well.

Failed. It's very difficult to use a marker for this job especially with the ridges in the letters. I think if I use a small brush instead, it will work better.
