Passenger side mirror

Does anybody know/have the ability to look up and see if the cover for the passenger side mirror (painted portion) can be ordered separately or do I have to get the whole assembly.

Slightly miffed as I barely got the mirror coming into the garage (1 mph crawl into the garage) and while it folded and I rolled back I found that the paint had rubbed off. :mad0260:I've had painted covers and done the same thing on accident but never had the paint rub off like that.

At least my wife was kind enough to offer to get it fixed for my birthday.....and she hates my passion for cars and formula style racing.....:D Always glad to know I got the right special lady who will take care of me even if its something she despises.

Here is a link to get the cover thru subaru:
http://www.subarupartsamerica.com/pa...omponent=Cover

You can look at the diagram and it shows that number 4 is the cover piece (unpainted) for $33.19. You could take it to your body shop to have them paint it and it should be no more then $30-40 for them to do that. Hope this helps!

Thanks.

Taking it off is a PITA. Go slow and read instructions carefully. Probably easier to break it off and clean out the tabs.

huh? no.... its fairly easy.....

pull the door panel
unplug mirror
fold mirror
pull exterior cover off
take off 3 hex bolts
pull mirror off
pull mirror panel off
remove three bottom screws

the door panel removal is the most time consuming part and that takes 5 minutes tops never having done it before

Haha......define PITA. Not much is a PITA to me. Door cards and this is easy. What I'm not use to is having the EPC with diagrams and WIS with specific steps that may help when something doesn't seem obvious as part of the work.

Overall this looks like nothing compared to other stuff I've done on my 9-3.

clearly I'm not the most handy person, but just wanted to give fair warning for a job that I think requires a little finesse given all the plastic as opposed to the more direct nut/bolt job. I would argue the door panel is easier :)
