Something of a Whirring noise coming from resonance tube after trd intake install?

Hey all,

I just installed my TRD intake for this car yesterday along with a friend's help. Everything is good, but now I notice something like a whirring/hissing sound coming from the resonance tube down by the passenger footwell.

Part of the install had me remove the sound generator that attaches to the stock intake, and capping it off with a supplied rubber plug. Does anyone else who also had the TRD intake installed have a similar issue to what I'm experiencing? No check engine/ warning lights of any kind. This can also just be the sound of some component spinning that I couldn't hear before due to all the cabin noise generated by the sound tube.

you are probably just hearing induction noise

I have the TRD intake.

You are likely experiencing one of these:
  • The intake naturally generates some noise especially when you lay your foot in it. This is part of getting a CAI in the first place. Almost all CAI systems make intake noise.
  • The rubber plug from the sound generator tube delete fell out and you are hearing noise directly coming in from the engine bay.

I would recommend completely removing the resonance tube and capping the hole from the inside. I then put electrical tape over the opening on the engine side. I don't have the noise you describe after my TRD intake install..
