Anyone thinking of center console upgrade?
I was talking to someone that said they were going to customize their center console and add better quality materials and knobs along with a $800 Pioneer Sound/Nav unit.
Anyone else doing this? I've never heard back on how he plans on doing it. I didn't think it was possible |

my garage :) buy carbon fiber sheets and pull out the back bezels and cut to fit. Now im not 100 percent sure this can be done yet but i have done similar before and im sure I can figure out something. I just want to add a little better look :) It will end up being a very inexpensive job but will finish the car out nicely.

id be interested in seeing how this goes. id like to make my interior a bit more upscale. nicer dash trim, headliner, etc. doesn't seem like a difficult diy

I'm thinking about picking up the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH. Sounds like a great system.
Also, an idea just came up as I was driving home last night. It would be cool to have a "86" cover made that can hide the AC area like the S2000: http://buyersguide.roadandtrack.com/...st0640_055.jpg |
i agree i loved that about my s2000! great idea! Im sure someone could fab something up.

yeah that would be a great idea the scion controls are a lil ugly. im gonna be wraping some interior parts in carbon myself as well. I can get 3 color normal Black, White, and Gray is

I started another thread about this as well. When i get mine.. I am looking to make the interior more upscale.. Aluminium bits.. Brushed aluminium dash pieces.. Perhaps even Red Leather Interior to match the Stitching on the Steering wheel.. Shifter, etc.. I love the Audi's.. so I would be emulating that look.. I know.. i should buy a BRZ.. lol but I work for toyota-scion.. so I will get a better deal.. and I like Scion.. :)
Any thoughts? I'm sure companies will start making stuff in a few months.. Post pics of any interior mods you guys make |

I'm all on board with you guys. I'm coming out of a brand new Audi S4, and while I know this Subaru's interior is much nicer than Subarus past, I still want to make it look nicer! Here's my thoughts and some picture samples:
JPM Coachworks will be getting a BRZ in soon, and will be offering some off-the-shelf parts like shift/e-brake boots. I was thinking of getting the speaker covers on the door panels and HVAC surround wrapped in leather w/ red stitching like they are on the JDM cars, as well as possibly the center console. I'd like to have a small cover made for the heated seat buttons, or maybe relocating them and covering them over; the switches just look cheap in that spot. I want the steering wheel wrapped in smooth Nappa leather rather than the grained/perforated leather. I want the shift boot and e-brake boot, gauge cluster top cover and sun visors done in black Alcantara with red stitching: http://www.jpmcoachworks.com/jpm/ http://www.jpmcoachworks.com/jpm/ski...ck/slide_1.jpg I'll replace the chromed plastic e-brake knob with a Cusco drift knob, and the shift knob with an STi titanium ball knob: http://www.importimageracing.com/med...2.54.50_am.png http://www.boomplustoys.net/images/s...shift_knob.jpg As for the silver painted interior plastics, ALSA Corp. makes a fantastic satin metallic paint called "Ghost Chrome" that looks just like the satin finish trim on the Audis: http://www.alsacorp.com/products/gho...hostchrome.htm I would like to paint all those plastics with the Ghost Chrome finish. I'm not sure what I want to do with the dashboard panel; though. I was thinking maybe painting it Piano black with a high gloss finish or maybe color matching it to the exterior (Galaxy Blue Silica in my case) with a glossy clear coat. Here's a sample: http://www.alsacorp.com/images/gc1L.jpg I also wish to replace the pedal covers with SRP "grid" pedals - check these guys out: http://www.srpracing.com/ http://www.srpracing.com/prod_images...t-grid-BU1.jpg As for the head unit, I've heard it's a little clunky but I'll probably leave it in place until one of the Android head units comes out and then replace it... Sound good? |
One relatively easy interior mod for Fr-s owners should be swapping the center console of the fr-s for the one in the GT-86 or even the Brz. it looks a lot nicer, it has the push to start button that can be wired into the stock harness and you also don't have to worry about cutting holes into the original bezel.
fr-s center console http://stblogs.automotive.com/files/...e-1024x640.jpg GT-86 center console http://www.syncoptima.com/blog/wp-co...0514-02146.jpg Another mod that can be done is building a car computer with touch screen display instead of the crappy stock one. |
Wow i would wish i could do that dont know how pricey it could get though. I thought that the Fr-s doesn't have dual climate control so you just dont wire up some of those buttons??
