SP Elite vs Trd Exhaust vs Nameless 5in
So i have the opportunity to buy either a used Trd exhaust with about 1400 miles, a new sp elite, or a new nameless exhaust with 5 in mufflers. I am looking for an exhaust that will give that deeper rumble but not too loud to attract cops when at WOT. The trd is the only one I have heard in person and it sounds great. But my issue is me not liking the d-shaped tips, i prefer round tips, which both the greddy and the nameless have. I have watched videos of the Greddy, some videos make it sound to much like stock, and others I enjoy the sound. I'm just concerned if it will be too quiet to notice. The Nameless sounds great, but I'm afraid that it might get louder as mileage increases and I'm trying to avoid cop attention. I can get the Trd for 550, and the Nameless and Greddy for about 600-650, so price is fairly similar. I can have both the Greddy and the Trd by this weekend, rather the Nameless i would have to wait until the manufacturer can get it to me. Which exhaust would you get and why? Thanks in advance.

If you're looking at the SP Elite, check out Top Speeds axle-back. Looks similar, sounds good. Deep low tone. I just recently picked it up and it's a good bang for the buck.

Im not sure about the volume of the trd but it does have the advantage of being a factory exhaust.
If you plan on adding headers i'd look at the sp elite. For reference the nameless 5inch with headers and catted fp is at the autoX limit for loudness at 92dB@ 50ft. That being said i'll probably go nameless and add another resonator. |
I have the Nameless axle back and it is not loud at all. It has a great and distinct exhaust tone to it. I've heard the Greddy exhaust and it's nice but I still prefer Nameless over it. Hope that helps

As of now i dont plan on any mods besides exhaust, intake and unichip maybe. So I'm really going by which sounds nicer.

Then i personally like the nameless....

At the very least, a little review? Drone? Popping? Loud? Etc? |
I have the SP Elite. Your observations on it sounding to similar to stock were mine as well (initially). About 2000 miles later the noise has gotten a little louder but much deeper. Not header, over pipe, plus (insert quality name) cat back deeper. I think its as close to perfect for dd sound. Its still a smidge quiet for my tastes, but thats why i have a berk delete when i want loud. For the record i have a unichip, perrin inlet tube, and a drop in. Without those mods my the SP is a little quieter, but that could just be a placebo effect. By the way, i may be looking to sell my unichip.

I have the SP Elite and I love it. You just know its there. Nothing obnoxious. I do plan on header, op/FP as well, so that is why I went SP Elite. From what I have heard online it keeps the volume reasonable when parts closer to the engine are replaced.

I just installed the SP Elite. Got it for $525. It is louder than stock at idle. Cruising at highway speeds, you barely notice it. You do hear it when the throttle is opened. Overall, I'm satisfied with it since I prefer to be on the quiet side.

SP Elite here.
Not sure if I just don't like loud exhausts anymore but I love the tone of mine. It's loud enough for me to notice at all times (start up, idle, stepping on it) except when cruising. It's a deep sounding growl. Perfect to me. |

If you're going to go to aftermarket headers, then unless you like very loud, I'd stay away from NP axlebacks, even the 5". Now, if NP were to produce a 2.5" midpipe with 5" muffler in it, then combined with the 5" ABs of theirs, that'd probably reduce volume enough for those looking to go a little louder than stock with aftermarket catless headers. |
