BRZ in town today. Salesmen getting trained to sell them.
Subaru rep had the BRZ at the local dealer today so I went over to try it on for size and grab a few pics:

My Spyder is lowered almost 1.5 inches so it makes the BRZ look taller than it is. If the BRZ is dropped a little over an inch to close up the wheel gap it will not be much taller than the Spyder. When I sat in the car, I was extremely comfortable. Everything falls in exactly the right place. With the telescoping and height adjustment on the steering wheel I was able to feel right at home immediately. The car was a little easier to get in an out of than my Spyder but then I attribute that to my car being lowered. With the drivers seat positioned for me, there was about 2 inches of room between the back of the seat and the front of the rear seat. I am 6'2" and 198LBs. As many have said the rear seats are nearly useless and are there to lower insurance rates only apparently. I was impressed by the quality of the interior with the exception of the silver plastic dash panel and the material that they used for the center panels in the seats. But man, those seats are comfortable! I was the only non salesman looking at the car. It was brought in by the Regional Manager who was conducting an information and training class on the car. None of the salesmen knew anything about it. I was told that they have 8 BRZs coming in and none of them are spoken for. 6 will be automatics and 2 will be manual. Most of them will be the Limited version. |
My god Galaxy Blue looks stunning. It's unfortunate that Canada won't be getting the colour. Thanks for the pictures and the comparison. I'm loving that Subaru is keeping these car appearances so low key. The more baby boomers driving automatics the better, it'll keep the insurance rates down.

So happy to see the BRZ they had to hug it out lol |
Thanks for sharing. That's a nice color on the BRZ.
Also I like the mods on your MR2 (cf lip, lowered height, wheels). Looks pretty good, even next to the newer BRZ :) |
Those wheels look sharp on your Spyder. What kind are they?
|
Two observations:
1) The hell do the dealer personnel NOT know about the BRZ!? It's Subaru's most important launch since the freaking WRX. Maybe I am being petty, but that would preclude me form wanting to buy a car from them. 2) this report is the first time I heard of the 6AT outselling the 6MT. |
Thanks for posting. Any idea where it's headed next?

Galaxy Blue looks so much nicer in those pics than I would have imagined based on the Subaru website...
I do think it's funny that the sales people have to train to sell them... when I actually think the vehicles will sell themselves. IMO, people buying them (certainly at this point) are already fully aware of the offerings / specs. It's just not the same as a person walking onto a lot looking for what car to buy. BRZ owners (at least for now) know what they're going for, and have specific reasons for picking the BRZ. Again, IMO... Man I cannot wait for mine! lol |
I noticed that this is the Premium Model. How does the BRZ Premium Interior/HVAC look like? Is it the same as the FRS? Pictures?
