Special edition BRZ coming to Canada soon!

I brought my BRZ to the dealer to check out my heated seats.
The service guy (whose fiancee drives a BRZ, and who owned a STi himself) showed me a printout for a new version BRZ that would be arriving shortly.

It looked like the tS BRZ, with the front lip, side skirts and rear valence installed, as well as special seats with blue inserts and the Subaru text on the headrest.
Blue push-start button included, and apparently a new Nav unit is being provided.

Calipers will be painted (not sure what colour - but possibly blue) - apparently the US might get something similar, but with the Subaru name printed on their calipers as well.

The STi wheels will be available, and this special edition will be 6MT-only.

From the pictures in the printout (looked like a powerpoint presentation) it looked a lot like the tS BRZ.

Didn't see anything about a power bump, and most of the bits looked cosmetic, but just something interesting!

If memory serves me corrrect, that shit is going to msrp for 40k+ since the TS is specced the same way...

It wouldn't cost that much. Sounds like just the full sti lip kit and some different color items like seat covers and push button. The tS includes a full suspension (springs, shocks, LCA, etc.), bbk upgrade, BBS wheels (the "standard" sti wheels already available are actually enkeis but look exactly on the same)

It might - remember that you're in a Canadian forum.

Interested to see if we have any confirmation on this!

Sounds like a Subaru Premium Sports version with blue trim treatment and maybe a Japanese STI Performance Pack (which is essentially the STI body kit + flexible tower bar + flexible draw stiffeners) + STI wheels.

It's nothing remotely close to the tS so it won't be too expensive. Seeing how the STI body kit comes out to around $2000 and the flexible bars for another $1000 (maybe the bars are replaced with the STI wheels but those are even more money), I don't see how SOA can effectively market this without higher paper performance figures for the American market that only cares about having a TURBO.

This is probably the same strategy as the new WRX STI Launch Edition (limited factory rice option BS).

There's a Levorg by FHI at the Tokyo Auto Salon with a similar treatment as described by the OP. Goto 0:45 on this video (the first featured car, not the STI Performance version that comes later on):

I can't wait to see what new Sat Nav they are going with, hopefully better and will bolt right onto my stock harness. :D

You forgot to mention the larger diameter driveshaft and revised VSC programming. :P

There was a post from a while ago on the General Forum mentioning a limited edition BRZ being planned by SOA for 2014.

The chief GT86 engineer has made it clear in a tweet that there will be enhancements on the upcoming model year car so it will be interesting to see how this model compares to that. If the 86 is being enhanced I would think the BRZ would be as well, after all it's pushed as the premium version in NA.

He never said on the upcoming model year. He said "soon". That could be 2 maybe more model years away.

This BRZ special edition will be cosmetic only I'm sure. Maybe a dealer added option of the sti springs?...who knows, but nothing you can't already do.

Most of what I saw was cosmetic bits.
But it seems like the stuff I saw will hit dealerships within the next few months.

DaJo 03-11-2014 12:04 AM

Interesting... I've heard it's just all cosmetic stuff from the STI catalog...

calmtigers 03-11-2014 05:28 AM

I just want the sti rims for cheaper...

What makes you think it will be cheaper getting it from the dealer? For example an STI center cap is like $40 bucks, whereas the Subaru center cap is $20.

The STI Enkei flow formed wheels are quite well priced already at $1500 not including shipping / customs from Japan, compare to the STI BBS variants priced at $4000+ (which is pretty in line considering they are forged). Have you seen similar priced wheels for bicycles? Proper quality car rims are a bargain in comparison.
