Monthly Movie Meet (Portland)
 

Hey Portland 86ers, I think that it might be fun if we start a monthly movie meet. Every month we'll choose a new action or car-related movie.

Let's start this off with NEED FOR SPEED. It opens Friday, March 14th.

In April, a good choice would be SMALL TIME, about two guys who open a used car lot.

We don't necessarily need to meet Friday night when the movie opens, it could be anytime over the weekend or during the week following.

How about Need For Speed on the 22nd after the Perrin meet? That way we can mob to a theater after hard parking your block.

That's an idea... and a pretty good one.

There is a small chance I have to go out of town when the Perrin meet happens, though... so maybe a contingency plan is a good idea, too.

Lol well let's see if Darren will fall asleep during the whole movie this time.

OK, Saturday night I'm going to see N4S with @NickFRS & Brie, @hefeweisen and @TraviigotSWAG. Not sure of the time yet, but this will be somewhere on the east side. Anyone else want to join us?

When you figure out the time let me know. I'll be wine tasting that night but if the timing is right I'll come. I pick up my car that morning finally!

Can't wait! All the reviews hint this movie is total garbage..... AWESOME!!!! :D

Supposedly there is no CGI in this movie at all. All the stunts were performed with actual cars. Most were kit cars made to look like the actual car however.

There's plenty of CGI enhancements. All of the stunt car supports and wires, fake flames, etc. What Aaron meant when he said that is that none of the cars or car crashes are CGI.

I saw a screening of it on Tuesday and I didn't think it was that bad!

It was weird seeing no NOS... or manual shifting... and Tobey Marshall's daily outfit looks suspiciously similar to Brian O'Connor's... Oh well.

Yeah, this is tonight. Meeting at my house at 9:45p and rolling to Century Theaters at 10p for the 10:30p movie.

Sorry guys.. Can't make it tonight. I have my son. Him and I are gonna hang out and watch a movie. At 8 y/o, I don't think N4S would be appropriate.. ;)

I forgot all bout this...

The acting was pretty bad, but the action scenes were pretty believable and impressive. There were a couple of scenes that were unrealistic... like when the Mustang lands a three-story jump on it's nose and drives away undamaged. Overall, worth watching.
