FRP Hoods, anyone have experience with them?

Hey,

So I'm thinking about buying a Varis FRP hood, but I was just wondering if anyone has had issues with FRP for a hood? I would imagine it is significantly weaker than Carbon Fiber, and I'd hate for it crack under high speeds/vibration/heat, just trying to save a couple bucks since I plan on painting it anyways but don't want to end up with a head ache!

Thanks!

If it is made like crap it will crack. If it is made like shit it will crack and not fit.

It will vary manufacturer to manufacturer and the quality will solely depend on the individuals whom made it. On a properally made hood the only advantage or CF over FRP is weight, not strength. That being said saving money on fiberglass or carbon products is not a good idea. More often you will have to pay more for quality. And on a composite hood that will mean everything for you.

From what I can understand, Varis makes a good quality product, but I plan on painting the hood, so if I can get the same reliability/results from the FRP one, I can have it painted for less then what the carbon one costs before paint.
