Forester Brembo into BRZ question
 

Looking at purchasing and installing brembo's that seller has told me they will fit 08-12 forester. I know I will need to swap the bleeders around. But will it be fine to use rotors supplied and when it comes time to change pads and rotor, which part or car make should I reference when I go to change them?

Are those foresters even 5x100? Are these calipers the same as the STI brembos?

IMO, I would buy a kit you know fits. It'll cost you more in caliper mounts and custom parts to make a set of non fitting calipers work than it would to just spend more initially on a proper kit.

08-12 Forester are 5x100 for USDM market...not sure about AUDM. I'd assume they're the same, but Oz gets lots of weird stuff we don't get. If they're the same as 08+ Brembos then it's a bolt-on affair that simply requires dual-drilled rotors.

Yes they are 5x100, they are the gold sti ones with sti stamped on them, so they will still require different rotors even though its the same pcd? The laws in my area don't allow after market brakes, insurance won't cover unless its road legal and engineered. Seeing as it's an OEM part it can be easily engineered so will be easier for legalities.

Gold? Did you guys get black calipers from ~2008 and on? Gold will require an adapter bracket for the rear calipers.

You should also swap the bleeder screws from where they are on the front caliper to the other side - meaning from anterior to posterior, as the BRZ clocks the calipers in an orientation that would leave the bleeder ports useless unless swapped. See THIS (<--CLICK!) thread.

I consider the Essex kit to be aftermarket.
I had no trouble getting the Essex Sprint engineered and legalised. The only thing was I had to get ADR compliant brake lines made as the lines that came with the kit weren't up to scratch.

Just because it's an OEM part makes no difference; it was never offered as an option on the BRZ.

I read otherwise, but that's good to know. Either way, still going with the brembo's, will be changing out the brake lines aswell. Captain, what brake lines did you run?

http://www.actbrakes.com.au/ made ADR compliant stainless steel brake lines in shop. The lines have "ADR #some number" stamped on them.
