Hannah - '14 SWP BRZ

My name is David and I’m based out of San Francisco, CA.

The last car I owned was my 2013 Argento FR-S. Sadly, on 2/28/14 – I was involved in a solo accident. Long story short, I was too fatigued from work and driving 7 hours back to Los Angeles, CA to be safely operating my vehicle; not to mention in heavy rain and slick conditions. The FR-S has since been officially totaled and although I was far from speeding, the experience definitely shook me up.

After the accident, I understandably began to fear RWD – however, I realized after having gone through a couple RWD cars (350Z, C350 Coupe) and safely managed many absurd winters in the East Coast, that my fear shouldn’t be of the car itself, but of understanding my own limits. Growing pains, for sure – as it was a big first “ding” to my otherwise spotless driving record (no tickets, accidents, etc).

Yesterday, by the grace of God – insurance totaled the FR-S and would help me back into another car. This time around, I decided to go for the twin I wanted in the first place – a Limited BRZ and was offered a brand new, fresh-off-the-truck-still-wrapped 2014 SWP. That's with a ton of goodies, and phenomenal service - definitely hit up Tommy Quach over there! I was pleasantly surprised that they are a "hush-hush" mod-friendly dealership. The guys there are super stoked about cars, and very knowledgeable. Not to bash on other dealerships, but they usually don't have very passionate salespeople who are into the technical or historical aspects of these cars. Their tech is also a guy who built a certain SpeedElement EVO X...

I’m a religious man and I truly believe that everything happens in accordance to His will; I’ve never named any of my cars, but I am naming my new BRZ “Hannah” – as it means grace. A reminder of having hope in situations that look down, and that things will work out, even if they don’t seem that way.

TL;DR – After a traumatic car accident with my lovely FR-S, I decided to stick with the 86 platform, and go with a ’14 SWP BRZ that I named “Hannah” as a reminder of God’s grace.

subiestyle 03-07-2014 02:19 PM

holy moly!

I did not realize there were dealers in the bay area letting go of white brz limited below invoice. did the 25.6K include $795 destination fee?

PoorMansRacing 03-07-2014 02:22 PM

I love your Hannah reference :) very cool. Glad to see you bounced back (in a BRZ no less)!

Yup! Mine had coincidentally rolled onto their lot that same day, I saw it before it even got checked in at the dealer - I have some of the original documents from the factory (in Japanese lol) that I snatched before they were going to take it away.

The price included options too like wheel locks, rubber OEM trunk mat, bumper applique, chrome fender trim, etc. No gaudy options thank goodness.

Thanks! You know it! BRZ was the one I wanted all along, but ironically ended up not saving much money going the FR-S route, should've stuck with my gut feeling, it would've been practical too!

any finagling on your part, or does capital subaru have so much volume that they let go for so cheap.

i would've definitely reconsidered the brz limited at that price vs the monogram.

Well, I can't explain why but Tommy hooked it up! They're a huge dealer group with 10+ marques and the largest Subie dealer in CA. Looks like the CO days are over for us lol

I posted this above "I was pleasantly surprised that they are a "hush-hush" mod-friendly dealership. The guys there are super stoked about cars, and very knowledgeable. Oh man, just stumbled onto this. Glad you're ok man! Also glad you're enjoying the BRZ.

Still loving that axleback but definitely craving that suby rumble. You get your headers yet?

Thanks my friend, recovering well for sure! We are in the proper brand now together :P

Ugh yeah the Axleback is great. Headers aren't here yet but it'll be easy to see before and after maps with an OBD reader. Saw your post.

I'll do it at some point, I didn't save my original photoshop file, had I done so I could've just masked that text layer.

Woah. I saw you post elsewhere in the forum, so decided to catch up and see the progress on your car, was surprised to see the white BRZ.

Sorry for the loss, but I'm sure you learned from the accident. Glad you got back into a ZN6, and equally stoked that you got a white BRZ.

I've been considering it... Haha. I wanna get new wheels first, but championship white would be a great color choice..

Definitely, it'd stand out, even among all the white twins out there. NO ONE has a Championship White one (to my knowledge).

New wheels again!?

Sorry to hear about your FRS, glad to see you bounced back. Noticed you order the catted UEL header, by any chance do you know if its good for smog?
