Hannah - '14 SWP BRZ
My name is David and I’m based out of San Francisco, CA.
The last car I owned was my 2013 Argento FR-S. Sadly, on 2/28/14 – I was involved in a solo accident. Long story short, I was too fatigued from work and driving 7 hours back to Los Angeles, CA to be safely operating my vehicle; not to mention in heavy rain and slick conditions. The FR-S has since been officially totaled and although I was far from speeding, the experience definitely shook me up.
After the accident, I understandably began to fear RWD – however, I realized after having gone through a couple RWD cars (350Z, C350 Coupe) and safely managed many absurd winters in the East Coast, that my fear shouldn’t be of the car itself, but of understanding my own limits. Growing pains, for sure – as it was a big first “ding” to my otherwise spotless driving record (no tickets, accidents, etc).
Yesterday, by the grace of God – insurance totaled the FR-S and would help me back into another car. This time around, I decided to go for the twin I wanted in the first place – a Limited BRZ and was offered a brand new, fresh-off-the-truck-still-wrapped 2014 SWP. That's with a ton of goodies, and phenomenal service - definitely hit up Tommy Quach over there! I was pleasantly surprised that they are a "hush-hush" mod-friendly dealership. The guys there are super stoked about cars, and very knowledgeable. Not to bash on other dealerships, but they usually don't have very passionate salespeople who are into the technical or historical aspects of these cars. Their tech is also a guy who built a certain SpeedElement EVO X...
I’m a religious man and I truly believe that everything happens in accordance to His will; I’ve never named any of my cars, but I am naming my new BRZ “Hannah” – as it means grace. A reminder of having hope in situations that look down, and that things will work out, even if they don’t seem that way.
TL;DR – After a traumatic car accident with my lovely FR-S, I decided to stick with the 86 platform, and go with a ’14 SWP BRZ that I named “Hannah” as a reminder of God’s grace.
