Scion relatively high mileage new car?
So I am buying an FRS from dealer. It has 200ish miles on it.
Dealer told me it's because of the dealer trade. Is there any scion insider who knows about this? I thought new car transfer is always done with a truck. BTW, 200 mileage is really not quite acceptable for an MT. thoughts? |
Time to find another car ;)

That is very common. They swapped a single car, which wouldn't warrant a truck.

I thought mine was being sent from the other dealer via truck, but turned out they drove it. They put an extra 130 miles on before I got it. I am hoping the guy driving the car didn't get hooney. Car seemed happy when I got it and no major issues at 2600 miles.

Common. You should be happy if they beat the shit out of it. Makes the car stronger. Too many grandma's out there driving new cars with temp plates.. Burnin' oil..weak rings..99000 miles later.

Since it's a 13 version, while...it's 14 now. Besides, I checked the VIN. It has the old fuel pump. It must have been sitting in lots for a long time. I don't mind too much if the 300 miles are done via long distance driving. But if it's been test driven for tens times...

It's fine. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it.

Dealers drive the car from location to location when it is more cost effective and time efficient than using a truck. I bought BRZ with 100 miles on it because the dealership's owner's son took it to a car show. Then I drove it back home which put another 60-75 miles on it.
You shouldn't really need to worry about it. The new car warranty is extended by the mileage that is already on the car anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Make them give you a $5000 discount for the extra mileage on it :)

I personally would never buy a NEW car that had 200 miles on it. My NEW cars were always ordered and had fewer than 10 miles on them when I picked them up. I believe my FRS had 9 miles on it. Odds are the car is fine if the miles were indeed transportation miles, but why take a chance? I always order the cars to get what I want rather than settle for whats on the lot.

I wouldn't buy a "new car" with more than 20 miles on it. I don't like people driving around in my car.
|
I don't think it is a problem but I have problems with trusting if the person did not hoon with it because of the stories I have been hearing.. I told the dealer that I didn't want anything more than 50 miles and I received on with only 25 miles.
|
Mine had 130 miles on it due to a dealer trade. 8k miles later and I have the same issues as everyone else. But i know for a fact it was a dealer trade becuase I know the other dealer it came from and the distance matches. See if you can find that out.
