Anyone work with Topspeed Motorsports?

I plan on having them do some work on my car this summer. Exhaust, dyno tune and springs.

Has anyone had experience with them?

I've had two of my previous Subarus tuned by Doug/Topspeed some years ago. Great tuner, easy to work with, and very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to use/recommend Topspeed to anyone. They've been around quite some time for good reasons. :)

Btw are you AF out there? I wish I was that close to a good tuner vs having to drive 4+ hrs or flying someone -_-

Their tuner left and the shop went to shit.

Great! I've been emailing them a bit about getting this parts put on and also getting advice from them. Just wanted to make sure before I have the work done. I actually am. I'm currently deployed and seeing if they wouldn't mind having the parts shipped straight to their shop and get them put on as soon as I get home. So far they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Just double checking since so did Toni at FA20club when I first started dealing with him last year, and we all know how that turned out.

Lol TopSpeed is definitely not some shop that has just "popped up" marketing 86 parts/tuning... So I wouldn't have any worries about that type of thing.

And cool stuff, be safe man...

I didn't mean to compare them to fa20club at all. That's way too offensive towards them lol. Just wanted to do some research. Can't wait to work them!

Thanks man.

I can attest to TSM being stand up folks. All my orders and dealings with them have been good experiences. Plus they've done at least one Greddy turbo FR-S install and the results were nothing short of amazing.

As others have mentioned they are big in the GT-R and R8 community. So if they can be trusted with $100k+ cars, I wouldn't hesitate to hand over my 86 to them.

Great stuff guys! Thanks again!

Sorry to bump an old thread but the tuner Doug drives a BRZ himself now ;) And of course it's Force inducted pushing 400+ on stock engine internal except for valve springs.

Reaper 05-21-2014 09:03 AM

Since when did he put valve springs in? And his car is at 479whp on a gtx3071

I stopped by the shop yesterday and while Doug was busy tuning stuff I did talk to Mike for awhile and he showed me Doug's car. Doug posted an update the other day on wrxatlanta with some pictures of the car with the AWIC setup. It's funny i think the same setup could work fine with my JDL kit if I just turned my old WRX AWIC top-mount sideways, the inlet/outlet are in the perfect position. I would just have to clock the compressor housing differently.

I'm not so sure about the AWIC setup for say a track day, I think it would heat soak. Doug is using a fairly small heat exchanger, the one I had on my WRX was about twice the size and I still had issues with the water heat soaking.

Mike said the car floated a valve when doing a high RPM dyno run, so Doug just replaced the valve springs with Kelford ones. I think in the wrxatlanta post he said the car made 530whp@18psi on E85.

Unrelated but going to their shop is like a GTR convention, there must have been 15 of them parked there from all over the country.

Doesn't surprise me when they win the Tire Rack One Lap of America in a GTR two years in a row:

I do public relations for this event - great stuff goes on, for sure. I'd love to do it some year, too, just need to find someone to drive with me... and save the cash for it!

I think I could have won this class in my Cayman R:

Sports/GT cars over $50,000 - Engine displacement under 3.5L

I really wanted to do it this year since I have tons of laps racing at Memphis International Raceway and NOLA Motorsports Park. An FR-S won the under $50,000 class last year:
