Got a custom tune on the FRS. What happens if i add aftermarket headers after?
 
Running header back SRT Exhaust, injen intake, stock headers. If i change the headers, do I need to get it on the dyno again to get a new custom tune? I was told by some that all i would need is a reflash and some others told me i would have to get it back on the dyno again for a new tune...

Can anyone shed light on this matter for me? Thanks in advance

Depends on how much power and torque dip elimination you want. The header (hopefully catless) allows more timing adjustment with both the ignition and the VVT. However with this engine you may be smart to stick with your original tune, a little margin of error I think is a good thing.


Does the torque dip seem lessed with the header? Might just save some dough buy a cheater secondary O2 sensor lug and call it a day.


You have to stop at some point.

To get optimal performance and gains out of the header you will need a retune, as with any performance mod. :thumbsup:

So much pressure here to spend money and push tunes to the edge, finally money doesn't grow on trees.

No pressure, I'm not selling anything. All I'm doing is answering the question. If you don't want a tune then don't get one...

Also I guess what i'm wondering is if I have to get it back on the dyno for that retune or if that flash is considered a retune... Getting mixed responses.

I remote reflash is a newer thing tuners do where they average cras and give what I would calla middle of the road tune. Some will datalog and dial it in but many are empty promises. You have to buy equipment too.


I'd stick with the dyno reflash if your money is burning a whole in your pocket.

dyno will give you the best results, now whether or not it's worth the investment is up to you.
