Scion FRS H11 Projector Low beam CREE LED replacement
Guys I'm trying to figure out if these replacement for the FRS low beam which are halogen bulbs inside the projectors work ok on intensity beam and length.
I've checked and have found some cree LED Replacements which coem with a back plate heatsink for proper power discipation but I don't find them quite reliable with a fan on the backside. This is the one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cree-CXA1512...item43c6313d55 Then this is the one I might be getting my hands hold off http://www.ebay.com/itm/301076976468...S:1123&vxp=mtr Some people have said that these leds within the projector housing do not reflect well enough the led beam cause of the optics which were designed for halogen bulbs. Don't know if that's true. Like the guy who sells both of this cree bulbs told me to get the one with the heatsink cause of that. Basing himself that if I get the 60 watts cree if would not be as bright and the beam wouldn't be so focused. Anyways I'm opened to listening to your advices. |
I took the plunge.. dont think they are worth it..

Get HID. I dont think the aftermarket technology for LED low beam is up to par yet

Dont' the new Corollas have LED headlights?
EDIT: Found on Toyota's Corolla website. "Standard LED headlights set the stage for a stylish look, no matter the time. Designed to enhance the profile of Corolla, they help you see, and be seen. The best part is they come standard on every model." |

currently, all the led bulb conversions use a COB- based led which has a very large die area--they emit light smoothly across a space about as wide as a dime. hid and halogen both emit light from a very small fraction of that area, so the engineers have designed the reflectors around the light being emitted from a very tiny centerpoint.. because of this, led bulbs just can't be bright enough because they can't physically fit all the light exactly where it needs to be to compete with hid or halogen lights.. |
Ok so I need a hid low beam replacement for my FRS . But I want not that so expensive ones. I'm looking for metallic casing ballasts not those cheap plastic ones which come with rubber isolation inside which breaks down and are disstarous. Any links ?
These low beams are to be fitted inside the projector housing where the halogen are, H11 hids right? |
I had them for 2 months, they are nice, they gives you pure white look, but it's absolutely not bright enough, somehow i found that my OEM Halogen was even brighter than this, so i switched to HID, save your money and get HID.

Okay listen should I get this one
http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Slim-Digita...ersion_kit.htm Some people say that if the car is not designed to have HIDS by factory sooner or later hids will fail, making you go back to stock halogens. Sooner or later cause the wiring is not prepared, alternator. Or don't know. I would like to fit low beams the ones inside the projector with HIDS low beam and the high beams , so I would have to buy to HIDS sets ? will the FRS handle that? I was looking for some good cosntruction ballasts metallic with digital asic and well made not rubbish. But at the same time I don't want to spend a fortune. Thanks Update: I think I'm going with these which do have AC ballasts [ame="http://www.amazon.com/OPT7-Bolt-Z-Arc-HID-Bulb/dp/B00DWKYYLQ/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top"]OPT7 Bolt AC Z-Arc HID Bulb Set - H11 - 8000K Ice Blue Light Xenon : Amazon.com : Automotive[/ame] |
well, All the HID Kits has their lifetime, doesn't matter if the car comes with HID Headlights or aftermarket HID kits, it will burn out one day, the only thing is FR-S projector is not designed for HID, so the cut off will be not as good as Halogen or some Real HID projector lens, but HID kits is from $50 - $200, so it's not that expensive compare to a full HID Headlights conversion, However, this is just my thought, maybe i m wrong..

So for the HID to focus the beam properly on my low beam projectors I will have to switch them with ones for HIDS? any links ?
