chas3wba0 02-27-2014 09:45 PM

Just me in the car. Minor whiplash but more damage to my ego

TwinturboCamry 02-27-2014 09:47 PM

ntron1 02-27-2014 09:50 PM

Nope....$7K but she'll be fine.

LadyFRZ 02-27-2014 10:05 PM

Doesn't look like it will be totaled, maybe quite some time in the shop repairing her though.

Also,. Glad you're alright.

any time airbags go off, it's bad. i think it *could* be totaled, but really need to know how the suspension ends up being.

SirBrass 02-27-2014 10:19 PM

From the outside it looks repairable, but you never know till the body shop beings disassembly and inspection. So, I vote for "unclear."

I'd at least get an insurance-funded appraisal and let them make the call. If it's repairable, go for it. It doesn't LOOK too bad. Airbags most likely deployed b/c the impacts were directly on the corners (right where the sensors are).

Yea it's definitely a close call. AAA doesn't think it's a total loss from the pictures, but the guy at the body shop thinks yes at first glance, so we'll see.

I was pretty surprised to see the airbag. It really didn't feel like I hit that hard. But my head did impact it so, good thing it did deploy.
Poor car, though, I loved that thing to death. Classic case of oversteer fail, gg

Bummer man!

Looks like it could have been worse and the fact that you walked away from it fairly unharmed is good news. Cars can be fixed. Your ego will mend in time.

Hope you get her back soon!

Mad1723 02-27-2014 11:10 PM

Man that sucks :(

Dibs on the wing if it's totaled... Just kidding. Hope you can recover her!

And the impact that killed Dale Earnhardt didn't look super serious either, just a hard check against the wall.

Those forces can be deceptive in their magnitude vs. felt magnitude.

Airbags are expensive to replace. Depending on the fair market value of the brz, they might just say it's totalled. But the car is definitely salvageable.

NickFRS 02-28-2014 01:07 AM

Worse then my rear end that was 12k in repairs (NO EXPENSES SKIPPED 100% RESTORE INSIDE AND OUT) that's a total loss dude.

To give you a hint the steering wheel + airbag alone is $1000.
