An alternate to OEM Audio + that's actually affordable

Hey guys, just wanted to post this up here because word hasn't really gotten out about the products. The owners of this company Innovated Dynamics are members of the SoCal Valley 86 club, and they're working on bringing some amazing products to the table at a very affordable cost. I'm working with them now to bring some new designs for exterior parts, so keep your eyes out and we'll keep you updated!

This is their sub box for the trunk. Can either get it ported or non ported. They usually come in carbon fiber, but if you'd prefer painted fiberglass that can be done to save some $$. Like $250 for a carbon fiber trunk box is much at all to begin with ;)

Also on their site is the OEM style Carbon Fiber hood, for only $450! Compare to Seibon at $720. And Jose, Cesar and the team are really good guys. They make sure their products fit 100% perfectly before sending them out. No issues with hoods not lining up properly like Seibon or APR...

Check it out guys, if you have any questions let me know :)

Interesting. Have been waiting for a cheaper alternative to the OEM+.

soundman98 02-26-2014 06:30 PM

what is the internal airspace volume of each design, and what is the port length on the ported iteration?

i don't see any of that info on their site, which makes it impossible to be interested in buying-- the box makes the sub, and i can't be interested in a box that i don't know the specs of...

also, their definitions of ported and non-ported iterations are downright confusing.

I've had my car for a little over a week now...

Only thing I miss about my old car is the factory premium audio system with the subwoofer...

I don't believe that this is the same as OEM+.. While it looks like a quality box, OEM+ is actually tuned for the car..

Seconded ...

OP, I don't think you understand what OEM+ is?? It is not just some new speakers and a subwoofer. They offer an integrated amplifier and DSP and the DSP has been custom tuned for the FT86...

The money is in the DSP portion because the factory head units EQ pretty much sucks.

 sorry i'm new to the jdm stuff, so i too easily forget how cf trumps all!

really though, $250 for cf work of that size is really cheap-- cheap enough that it makes me wonder if there were corners were cut somewhere.. maybe they didn't use as many layers of fiberglass in the rest of the box build?

kludger 02-26-2014 11:57 PM

OP should check out what OEM+ is before comparing another speaker box as an affordable alternative to it...

Here's a hint - people aren't just paying for a OEM+ speaker box to go along with their Circuit City special deal install...

id probably just get a plastic mold and layer it with one or two layers of cf and resin over it to get that look save alot of money lol

Ported Version (With hole): Gives out a great amount bass, not s loud as the ported version, however gives out a a nice clear bass notes at medium to high frequencies. May not be as loud as the non-ported version, but will also cause vibration through out the vehicle if not sound proofed or sealed properly.
Sounds legit

I like the look of the enclosure and $250 isn't bad for one custom designed to fit the 86. I went with a different solution and got great sound and the ability to remove it easily for track days. However, I am all for supporting a member of the 86 community.

I would be interested to see their CF hood in person to see how it compares with the Seibon. I need to get one for myself.
