The new rear-wheel-drive coupe with the boxer engine is nothing less than a game changer, reacquainting us with how fun and agile an affordable car can be, and returning us to a place in the auto-enthusiast firmament where we haven’t been for a long time.

I was asking the same thing.

I think he updated his article. Yesterday, I could have sworn that he had posted much lower numbers for highway mileage.

Yeah he did. It was like 23-25 mpg last night.

auto vs manual

This is interesting feedback from the article.. hadn't seen it before:

"we found that highway driving with the automatic was accompanied with some hunting between fifth and sixth gears on the mildest of inclines. Otherwise, the FR-S cruised smoothly and effortlessly, with scant wind or road noise even in these pre-production cars."

Hunting between gears... pretty much all automatics will do this given a moderate incline, but it's interesting that they found the problem bad enough to comment on.

Glad I got the manual (which I pick up tomorrow.. can't wait!).

I'm sure this can be avoided by putting the transmission in Sport or Manual.

So 10k units this year and 20k units next year? Is the next years going to be 2014 models? Will they be switching over to the 2014 model year in early January?

Wait, SPEED didn't bash it for not being a body-on-frame, carbureted V8-powered, live-axle dragstrip machine? I'm shocked! :eyebulge:
