Freeport fowarding, anybody done it ?

Hey guys, havent received my car yet but I'm already planning the mods ! I want to get @FT-86 SpeedFactory's Catted UEL but I'm really scared of the import fees. At first I said eh, screw it i'll just do a nice road trip but then realised it's 16 hours away... So i then found out about Freeport Fowarding... Anybody done it before ? Is it worth the extra trouble ? Do you declare anything at custom ? And most of all do you save moeny ??

Here's the link if anybody interested :http://www.freeportforwarding.com/index.html

It isn't going to save you any fees other than increased Canadian shipping unless you plan to pick your things up and not declare them at the boarder.

The only way you're going to skip those fees is if you drive to the states to pick it up, install it, then drive back without mentioning it.

Even in doing that, he will have his OEM header in the trunk... if he gets searched he will have to explain that. Not worth the risk of a mark on your file with the cross border service.

I ordered a header from the US, they shipped it via USPS and all I paid was the taxes on the item when it arrived.

If they ship UPS then you will get raped with brokerages etc unless you perform the CSA clearance yourself.

FT86speedfactory will ship to you via USPS, you have to ask them for it, its not on their website.

Had My UEL Headers from @FT-86 SpeedFactory shipped right to me they Shipped UPS and the fee was only $65.10 so not that crazy bad really.

Ok wow... thats not bad at all. I remember getting hit with huge bend over here it comes brokerage fees in the past so I switched to USPS only for US shipments into canada.

Being a long time Freeport customer I can tell you that you save money going there. However I caution there are some things you need to know first.

You won't save much if you're going for one thing.

Assuming you live in Montreal I suggest you go with just under a quarter tank of gas. Gas in NY state is at least 30 cents a liter cheaper than in Quebec ...even with the dollar taking a hit its still 20 cents cheaper.

Anything manufactured outside of the USA will be subject to duty so be prepared.

Things to declare... If it can be unpackaged and made to look like it was just in the car then go ahead but for parts you're swapping and keeping the original then just declare it.

Make an afternoon of it. Go to Wal Mart in Plattsburgh and do some groceries, they don't charge tax or duty at the border for groceries.

All in all if you order a few things from Freeport then it will be worth it. Considering what shipping to Canada is and how many items ship for free in the USA and the fact that Freeport is only an hour from Montreal.

If you have it sent to Canada and have a Canada Customs office near you then have the item held at UPS and go clear it yourself. You'll save some money there. I just realized you don't live close to Freeport so its not really worth it.

Only thing we can do is ship items USPS and lower invoices for you guys. We have been requested to do this multiple times for Canadian customers.

We aren't really sure what fees are and all that, but we try to accommodate for our neighbors up north when asked.

UPS charges a good chunk of money to do the duty paperwork for you, USPS is much friendlier.

Simon99 02-21-2014 05:41 PM

Alright, but since your Catted UEL is manifactured in the US there shouldn't be any extra fees right ? Don't we have a free trading arrangement going on right now
