P&L Motorsports + (Perrin OR Invidia Q300 OR ?) = quieter?
Looking at full exhaust setup that will be:
- as quiet as possible on the street at <4k RPM and <90db WOT on track - no drone - pass emissions and gain power across most of the power band - used on the street most of the time and on track several days per year Combined with JR SC and dyno tune. Does this work: P&L Motorsports Equal Length Header w/catalytic converter P&L Motorsports Overpipe P&L Motorsports Front Pipe w/catalytic converter Perrin 2.5" Resonated Cat-Back Exhaust System If we leave the three P&L components in place, what other quality exhaust would be quiet(er)? :thanks: |
Stock catback. If you really gotta spend money on the cat back I think everyone who's heard it agrees the q300 is outstanding for civil volume and quality sound, but I dunno if it adds any power or saves any weight. I doubt it does.

My nameless header is being fabbed right now. I will probably eventually get an OP/FP from them as well. Right now I'm all stock with a track pipe. Plan is eventually nameless header/op/fp and stock cat back for street and maybe track pipe for track subject to db restrictions. I may get some tips, but the stock tips painted black is fine. I'm like you I want it civil for dd and effective for track.
The cat back is the least restrictive part of the exhaust, but most effective for sound. |
Turbo makes a great muffler.

What would be the order quietest-to-loudest for these exhausts:
Stock Invidia Q300 Perrin 2.5" Resonated |
Think you have the right order. Basically start at the front and move back. When you are happy with the sound stop :)
|
Leaning towards Invidia Q300...would like to keep the stock muffler but apparently it sounds pretty bad when upstream components are opened up.
Thoughts? Looking for quietest aftermarket exhaust that would work with: P&L Motorsports Equal Length Header w/catalytic converter P&L Motorsports Overpipe P&L Motorsports Front Pipe w/catalytic converter |
Dunno if I've heard stock cat back with aftermarket goodies up front. Gimme a few weeks and I'll have header plus stock header back knowledge. Lots of folks love the Perrin lots of folks love the q300. Can't go wrong with either for sound, but having heard the q300 in person it would be my choice. It was even quiet outside the car unless you were behind it.
Regardless of which you land on you want to mod from front to back to have the best gains/$ and knowledge about the sound. How much is the p&l op + fp? The nameless combo is a damned nice piece and may even cost less given it is a single piece. |

Thank you, that's a pretty good sound imho. Any drone?

With cat 499, $399 without. Save ya $. It's a straighter design as well which should flow better. |
