Flex Fuel cold start stumble

1 Attachment(s)
I just thought I'd post my log of an E85 cold start with flex fuel. The first start always stumbles and dies. Second start fires perfectly.

I'll be working with my tuner to fix this and hope to learn what the issue was. So take a peak.

Probably needs more cranking ipw compensation for the ethanol content.

could be a vacuum leak also

Can that be adjusted based on ethanol percentage? So if you increase that for E85, would there be issues keeping it the same for E10?

It's part of the flex fuel setup. A custom map that scales cranking ipw to the output of the ECA scaler map. So yes it's adjusted based on ethanol content automatically once set up properly.

Same here, but not FF. Just using OFT E85 map. Staring at RomRaider this morning to get some sense of what needs to be changed.

Yeah mine does the same thing. Not that it's "cold" just hasn't been started in a while. 8 hours and it won't start on first try. 4 hours it will fire right up. Once when it was really cold, like 30ish it refused to start. I had to try 4-5 times and give it gas to finally come alive.

Bump up the cranking ipw or cranking enrichment just a bit at a time until it fires up first crank.

Just an update. Visconti has pulled through again and my cold start fires every time and now the exhaust cams (I have no idea what I'm talking about) are silent.

I was setting off car alarms before. Now my unlock beep is louder than my exhaust.
