A/C coming out hot

The air on my brz started to come out hot. it was first on and off cold and hot and now it just comes out purely hot. im trying to avoid going to the dealer as this is my daily driver. if anyone could help me out id greatly appreciate it. also when the air is on and the car is idling, the needle wont stay put and it goes up and down around 1k rpms..idk if that helps of not but yea lmao.

Assuming you have the temperature dial set to a much lower setting than ambient temp outside, you should take the car to a dealer to get it fixed.

If it looks/sounds/smells/feels/tastes like a warranty issue, it's a warranty issue.

Unless it's not a warranty issue.

There's also little shielding between the engine bay and the intake, a little weather stripping in the right place under the hood (between the bay and air intake) might at least be a partial solution. It did wonders for my SRT-4 after I got a CF hood that just blew hot air from my turbo straight to the air intake.

IIRC there's also an ECU flash to address the RPM idle dip on A/C cycling, and Chase Bays has a replacement ground cable that stops tach drops when you turn on electric seats or rear defrosters. I know most grounding kits are for the most part snake oil on modern cars, but I've heard good things about theirs. The electrical system on this one isn't the greatest if it can't turn on a defroster without dropping idle RPMs.

Sounds like you need to take it to the dealer.

Quickly, trade it in on a FR-S!

Seriously, like stated above, I agree, it's time to pay a visit to the dealer.

It could have a refrigerant leak; could be an electrical problem (compressor clutch not engaging); could be a bad compressor; could be the controls are whacked out.

Let the dealer sort it out .... ;)
